GLADIATOR

It has been a while since gladiators made their debut on the runway and, most importantly, on the streets. They were a big hit, specially last Summer, when all kinds of highs and designs appeared everywhere. I have to say I was very fond of Mary-Kate's knee length ones.
This season I was happy to find a very refreshing version. Phillip Lim associated with Tatami Birkenstock (whose models were also spotted on celebrities last year) to create a beautiful collection of über-comfortable and fashionable yet simple gladiators for S/S 2008. The trendiest versions include fringes in suede and patent leather or cheetah prints à la Dell'Acqua'07. Men's follow the more traditional designs but can also be found in the funky cheetah print or this season's red.

While having a look at Lim and Tatami's collaboration I came across two more chic views of the gladiator sandal by Tod's; they add leather in different colours and some metal and plastic to elevate the sandal to an uptown category.

All of them can be found in more colours and meterials and are available online at eLuxury.
What's your opinion on gladiators?

I'm off.

Let me tell you that if my guy wears those, I am leaving him. That instant.

omigod why are you doing this to me?
there is so much snow out here, up to my thighs we've even set a record! I don't know where spring is or even if it's ever coming *tears*
I'm dying to go summer shopping!

Gladiator sandals are amazing. I'm getting a pair from laredoute. Ordered a skirt from them and expected them to send me some crap... but the quality is fantastic and I'm really happy :) So I trust them enough to order shoes now... but I'm unsure if I should get them in black or brown. Brown would look good with denim cut-offs. Bt on the other hand black looks good with everything.
Anyway, nice post :P

They're ok for girls NOT for guys:)
I personally am not a huge fan of them, but I think they they look great on the right person, especially the long ones need to be worn by someone relatively tall and slim, and would look good with a nice, simple white dress

It's heading into winter here in australia, and summer sported a sd collection of sandals.

I was dying for a cool pair of gladiator sandals, but nothing appealed like the ones in these pictures.

Hope you start blogging again, cant wait!
