The cover that wasn’t but should have been

I'm beginning to think I'm slightly obsessed with magazine covers, just in case you haven't noticed. I just can't understand why editors insist on repeatedly choosing the worst shot from the story as the cover picture. I also don't understand why, the case of ELLE, they would make such disgusting choices when their susbcriber's covers are so slick and beautiful.
I am in utter awe of the Carter Smith's pictures of Emma Stone for July's American ELLE. The polka dot story seems a lot more original that the overdose of Prada and Louis Vuitton we keep seeing everywhere at the moment. The editorial is not only geniusly styled by Joe Zee but also very nicely produced. I wish this picture had made the cover because I can't stand the actual one, which by the way, doesn't even have anything to do with the story inside.
