Stockholm Fashion Week favourites

Swedish fashion week wrapped up two days ago and, as it could be expected, it delivered a few gems. I'm a big fan of the country's fashion because they are the only people in the world who consistently create simple garments and looks without ever falling into repetition. They create womenswear with the same philosophy as good menswear —making well tailored pieces and paying close attention to detail.
I loved most of the SS11 collections but there were two designers that really caught my attention. The first is Carin Wester. I hadn't heard of her until now even though she has been creating clothes for her namesake line since 2003, which now contains the mainline women's collection, a men's line and 'W', a limited handmade collection. I really loved her cotton knits and crochet made very sophisticated by slightly body-con silhouettes and the way she mixes a sort of Ibiza inspiration with NYC downtown cool. Check out her site here.

Hope was the second collection that I really enjoyed. But even more so than the clothes, I couldn't stop thinking of the incredible 'wrap' wedges. It was quite a minimalistic show with a lot of edge. A bit like a 'Céline meets Acne' kind of thing. So what's not to like, huh? Go to their website here.

I'm off.
