Three Names that nailed Cruise 2012
Cruise2012
[Style.com]
I think it would be fair to say that this last badge of cruise collections has been the best one since the so-called midseason became a fashionable thing for brands to do. As I mentioned before, I was particularly impressed with Erdem's simple concept and exquisite cuts and details and I rather enjoyed Chanel even though it was more of the same.
Even though there are still some more to come I will risk saying that we have seen the three best collections already.
The first is The Row. Being such a young brand they are already venturing into Cruise and doing it so well! A big part of the line seemed to focus around breton stripes, which is a pretty simple but genius idea. I would assume the Olsens picked breton stripes because they signify both nautical attire and Gabrielle Chanel and there is no better combination for a perfect Cruise look.
Acne has did PreFall for the first time last year and now joins the Cruise club too. I was pleasantly surprised with their collection concept, which spoke resort but was also quite urban. I especially loved the way dresses, skirts and camisoles were layered over or under each other.
By this, his third collection for Theory, Olivier Theyskens has managed to make of it a cult brand. I was happy to see a lot more colour and then usual black and white the designer usually delivers on the runway. My favourites were the various blazers, interestingly cut in different materials and paired up with sheer silk or blocky maxi skirts. I was also in awe of the shoes, huge wedges topped by metallic colours and pointy ends.

Ashleyredsuit
It is true that if you put Ashley Olsen in a pair of shabby pyjama bottoms and a tattered tank top I would probably still find her insanely attractive and stylish. Just as it's true that moments like this make me believe she's the one for me.
On her last outing in New York my favourite part of the Olsens wore a Jil Sander suit from the collection. She paired it with Chanel sandals and a breton striped t-shirt. As I've mentioned many times before Jil Sander's spring 11 line is on my top 5 of the season. So this perfect combination must mean we're destined for each other?
I love how Ashley wears the suit in such a casual way and how the fact that she's rolled up the trousers and blazer gives the impression that she's just grabbed something from her boyfriend's closet and ran out (I would be willing to share).

What do you think of Ashley's look?

Scandinavians know best

Forget about the Parisians, Londoners and New Yorkers. The coolest passport to have these days is a Scandinavian one. And even more so when it comes to fashion. The world known Swedish style staples Acne, H&M, Cheap Monday and COS are being joined by more and more Scandinavian brands expanding beyond their country limits to spread the neat coolness only the they have.
As I slowly started getting into FW10 mood someone from DAY Birger et Mikkelsen emailed me about their winter collection. I am usually reticent to publish content by request but I changed my mind as soon as I saw what they had to offer. For the upcoming season they have created a fusion of urban and countryside inspiration that has transformed into tailored wool pieces that coexist with t-shirts, Breton tops, jeans and even lace to create a very eclectic yet classic collection.

They have recently launched their own e-shop but you can also find some of their pieces at Net-a-Porter and My Wardrobe. Not only their womenswear is beautiful, practical and fresh but the same can be said about their men's line (which you can see over at Fashion, Frankly) and their home range from which I wish I could have every single piece because it is exactly the type of furniture and deco that I love.
Have a look at their website HERE to see the rest of the lookbooks or click HERE to head to their online store. If you do the latter, I do warn you that the site has just been launched this month and apparently they still haven't received much stock. So keep checking back, I'm sure I will because I desperately need the greenish three-piece suit they have for men.
I'm off.

PS. How much does the lookbook model remind you of Agnes? I am till in awe of those bouncing curls from her 'Release me' video.
