Industrie Issue 5: Haider by Juergen

To be totally honest, I am a lot more excited by the new issue of Industrie than I am about the launch of CR Fashion Book. For their 5th issue, the first launched in September, Juergen Teller has shot Haider Ackermann styled by Robert Rabensteiner. An incredibly brilliant combination.

'The Yearbook Issue' is meant to be the best one yet and I, for one, can't wait to have a copy in my hands soon. It's meant to hit newstands over the next week or so.

Industrie's flick-trough videos of their issues have by now become a classic. If you haven't got your copy yet (what the hell are you waiting for?) this is a great chance to have a closer look at the jewels inside. Issue 4, with Franca Sozzani on the cover, is undoubtedly the best issue so far both visually and in terms of interviews. I am obsessed with the Juergen Teller story featuring Catherine Baba and Alice Dellal and the Liz Jones and Michèle Lamy pieces are must-reads! Go to the Industrie blog a few extra previews of some of the pieces and get your copy now, it will be an excellent Christmas passtime (informative too)!

Industrie Issue 4: The Flick-through

Industrie has just released their now classic video of a mysterious pair of hands (love the yellow nails!) flicking through the issue. I got my copy this week and I can honestly say it's the best issue yet! It's an absolutely brilliant read! I didn't know much about Mert & Marcus or the five fashion critics they interview and now I feel enlightened. My absolute favourite two pieces in the issue are 'The Brant Boys' and 'The Young Guns', it feels so refreshing to see some actual new talented faces on a list of who's the future of fashion. The new issue of Industrie is finally coming out next week. After their very much talked about last two covers I was excited to see something new, yet again.

The famous duo of photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, who have shot endless Vogue Paris, W and Love covers and editorials and campaigns for just about everyone important have now moved to the other side of the camera for Industrie. I really love the cover shot. It's simple and there's something slightly humorous about it. I also love the fact that their matching anchor tattoos are in it because they also share it with Kate Moss, who they've shot once and once again for years.

I can't wait to have the new issue in my hands to see the rest!

Industrie #2

I remember how excited I was when I first heard of Industrie magazine and how I simply couldn't wait to get my hand on the first issue. Well, the second number of the magazine is hitting the newstands this week and it's doing so with a bang. I shared the new cover with you a few weeks ago —Marc Jacobs in drag styled by Katie Grand and shot by Patrick Demarchelier— and now we can see the full result in the shape of a fantastic editorial no one will forget. Also in the issue are the incredible Rodarte editorial photographed by Danko Steiner and styled by Ana Steiner and great pieces like "The Blueprint of Fabien Baron", with pictures by Terry Richardson and the editors' (Erik Torstensson and Jens Grede) list of the 50 people that have inspired them in 2010 entitled "The New Creative Establishment 2010". Industrie Issue No. 2

Finally! It's not just out yet but we can, at least, have a look at the new cover for the second issue of Industrie. Having Marc Jacobs styled (in drag) by Katie Grand on the cover is not only genius but also utterly unexpected, to me anyway. I was thinking they'd have someone from the editorial world. AdR was a bit of an obvious choice so I was thinking someone like Kate Lanphear. Or maybe a buyer like Sarah Rutson. So this was a brilliant twist. I can't wait to find out what the story behind the image is.

queen of mags

It's been in my possession for about a week and I finally had time to read it! What a magazine! Industrie is the perfect mixture of Vogue's good taste, Interview's format, Draper's credibility and the content of your favourite blogs. Only better. The 7£ price might seem a little excessive at first but can be justified not only by the unique content, the usage of two different kinds of paper and the simple yet innovative binding that make up a magazine of a very big size (37x24cm). I was planning on selecting my favourite bits and posting the pictures but it'd be over the top to photograph every single page, so this video below does the job much better.

Get your copy if you get a chance because Industrie really is unlike anything you've seen before. If there was ever a moment where that gap in the market was to be filled, this is it. Oh, and the magazine is so perfect it even looks great as a coffee table book!
