Vogue Japan takes Shala Monroque on a tropical holiday

Vogue Japan takes Shala Monroque on a tropical holiday
TFS
Looking at this story from the January issue of Vogue Japan many stylists must be kicking themselves in the head for not thinking of it first. The truth is this is one of those ideas that seems so obvious to be good but it is, in fact, great!
Shala Monroque, shot by Tommy Ton and styled by Aurora Sansone (woop!), travels to a tropical island to showcase the latest from the Cruise 2012 collections. And I am in love. Shala is one of the best dressed and most elegant-looking women I have ever seen. I briefly met her during the last LFW and was taken aback by her poise –being in her presence feels a bit like being underdressed or unprepared for a meeting.
I struggled putting together the collage because there wasn't one shot of her in the entire editorial that I didn't want to include in it. I really love how Aurora played with ethnic elements from the resort collections in a way that they also made sense back in the 'real world'.
For me, what really makes the shoot work is the fact that none of the looks feel overdone or unwearable because Shala would actually wear any of these outfits to a fashion show, an intimate dinner or just out in New York City.

Happy Sunday!

London Fashion Week- Spot Iñaki on Street Style Photos

You can't imagine how so not fashion appropriate was the moment when I found my picture by Tommy Ton on the American GQ website. I was ill in bed bbm-ing some friends and just browsing through GQ's street style pictures from London Fashion Week. I always have some hope that I might find one of myself.
It goes without saying that this made me feel instantly better. I don't know how Tommy Ton does it but he makes anyone look pretty good.

In the same group of photos from London I found another of someone else with me on the background and I thought it would be funny to share the few pictures of me at fashion week that I randomly came across. I don't get snapped but, boy, I am in the background a lot! Haha.
First is me entering Somerset House on menswear day, also by Tommy Ton. In the second one I am patiently waiting for the Beyoncé show to start (do you know who that woman is?). In the third I am chatting to some people before we taking a seat for the Christopher Kane show, and the last one, also by Tommy Ton, is at the exit from the show.

Jak & Jil puzzles

I wasn't aware of Jak & Jil's existance until about two years ago, when a dear and very chic friend pointed out to me that it should be on my list of fashion sites to visit daily. Ever since then I visit it religiously. My favourite thing about the way Tommy Ton takes the pictures is that you always want to see more. None of his pictures are a 100% satisfying (in a good way) because you would like to see the rest of the outfit, or put a face to the style. He always ends up adding at least another previously unseen part of the most interesting outfits and this is where my hobby starts. I try to predict the other bits that he'll publish of the same outfit and so I save them and wait. So far, I haven't been that right... which makes it all a little sad altogether but made me think of an even weirder idea. Why don't they make Jak & Jil puzzles for kids where they have to find the different pieces to an outfit? That would raise a generation os stylish and clever people. And from that to world harmony there's just a step.
