to edge or not to edge

I was a little shocked (but not surprised) when, the day after the Met Ball, I kept reading online terms such as 'Chanel catastrophe' or 'style snafu' to refer to Kristen Stewart. I had written something not far from that about her Chanel HC dress and I was starting to feel bad. I did because, even though she made all the wrong styling choices, I think she has potential. She is on the cover of the June issue of US ELLE looking beautiful and cool. And that is exactly what makes her different, she has a really cool edge that she can't seem to exploit.

Looking back at her outfits from "The Runaways" press tour and the Oscars there are a couple of things that keep popping up. She has the one pose, with a little movement of shoulders and legs but essentially one pose —the right-arm-on-right-hip. She rarely smiles, which usually takes back from the dress. After all, she is an actress so she should be able to fake-smile and look natural, no? And, well, the worst part of all is the hair. I guess her short cut for "The Runaways" is to blame for that. And she needs some redirecting in terms of style. Short dresses with little detailing (stop the Pucci) and a bit of an edge (she looked amazing in Doo.Ri) would make her rock'n'roll self come out and she would look awesome.

There is nothing like a little dose of Olsen-ness on a grey London morning during fashion week. I had been waiting for this moment since Coco's Tea Party predicted (quite accurately) that Ashley and Mary-Kate would be attending this year's Elle Style awards. MK looked pretty awesome and rock'n'roll in her black Lanvin but it was Ashley (surprise, surprise) who truly left me perplexed. The vintage Lacroix and the Fendi shoes made such a dazzling combination. Just leave Justin and marry me, please? Please?

OH Jessica!

First of, I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates lately. I have been going crazy moving back to Barcelona, I never imagined unpacking could be such a nightmare. I'm settled back down here for at least six months, so your coolness source is once again back to regular business.

This just made me incredibly happy! Jessica Alba playing it stylish as ever on this month's ELLE issue. Can you imagine an ELLE without Keira? I'm glad she's vanished for at least one cover. Jessica is the best substitute they could possibly find. The pictures obviously have a few months (no noticeable belly) but who cares about that? I find the shoot a little poor, but ELLE rarely has outstanding photography. The styling shines more than anything except Alba, specially two of the looks. First, a t-shirt by Dolce & Gabbana combined with a beautiful linen and silk skirt by Brian Reyes. The chain belt by Lanvin and the studded belt by Streets Ahead give the final and perfect touch to the look. Wondering what to wear to look perfect all-day-long? There you go. Now, for the second look I really enjoyed the fact that their choice was a rock-n-roll outfit just they way I love it on women. In my book, there aren't a lot of sexier manières of dressing a woman. Gucci signs the tags for the gorgeous python jacket, the silk and cotton pants and the patent leather boots I included in one of my Christmas specials. Perfection comes to an end with the sequin hooded sleeveless tank top by master Emporio Armani and the rings by Cartier. That's the picture perfect of my ideal woman. So I'll keep dreaming.
