Guinevere van Seenus covers the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar España

Guinevere van Seenus covers the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar España
TFS
I was quite excited to see what Harper's Bazaar España did for their September issue this year. As you know, I've been a huge fan of the magazine since day one. I have been enjoying their amazing covers for the last two years. It's so refreshing to see big titles taking risks and trying new things.
For September HB features American model Guinevere van Seenus in Dolce & Gabbana. It's great to see her sporting a completely different look. We have seen her going edgy on the cover of the Acne Paper, girly on the cover of Vogue Netherlands and ultra sexy on the cover of 10. She's quite the chameleon.
The magazine has really got behind next season's Baroque trend of gold brocades and over-the-top decorations. But what I love most about it is their minimalist and clean approach to it, which sounds oxymoronic but actually makes a lot of sense. The pose is my favourite, though. It is simply genius how they have linked to Baroque art, which was mostly religious, having Guinevere pose as a crucified Jesus. Genius!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley covers the new ELLE UK

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley covers the new ELLE UK
ELLE UK Twitter
I was so surprised when I woke up this morning and found that ELLE UK had already released their September 2012 newstand cover. I thought it would be at least another two weeks before we saw any September cover from the big titles. But I'm not complaining.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looks super sexy in the cover shot by David Vasiljevic wearing FW12 Dolce & Gabbana. While the concept is quite simple, not very new, I quite like the fact that they've chosen Rosie because she's probably the biggest British model at the moment. I am also hoping that the subscriber's cover will blow my socks off. Who know, they might even have more than one cover star... After all, that's what LOVE magazine does and it seems to work every time.
What do you think of the Rosie cover?

Best Dressed of the Weekend- Sonam Kapoor & Diane Kruger kill it!

Best Dressed of the Weekend: Sonam Kapoor & Diane Kruger kill it!

The Cannes Film Festival closed last night with the premiere of 'Therese Desqueyroux'. I was hoping that Diane Kruger, who has totally killed it day after day this year, would have a finale dress worth waiting for. And I wasn't disappointed – she wore a stunning Christian Dior Couture dress. I loved the fact that she wore it with the panniers, which give it a bit of 18th century drama.
My other favourite, who I didn't expect to see in Cannes this year, was Sonam Kapoor. I have been a big fan of her style for a while now. There is a certain Je-ne-sais-quoi in the way she wears clothes that I simply adore. Yesterday she rocked two dresses. First, a Pre-Fall'12 Alexander McQueen that she wore with a super flattering hairdo and beautiful make up. And later she slipped into a hot red velvet Dolce & Gabbana with matching shoes and a beaded hairband intertwined in her braid. Looking at her is like being transported to a glamorous time of elegant flamboyance.

I didn't want to do a poll this week because it would break my heart to choose between my two ladies but feel free to choose your favourite in the comments section below!

Best Dressed at the amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala 2012

The amfAR Gala during the Cannes film festival bring out every year all the most stylish actors, models and editors. I would say it is, arguably, much better or at least edgier than the Met Ball and this year has been a great one.
My absolute favourite was, of course, Diane Kruger. She wore one of the Chanel Cruise 2013 designs that went down the catwalk just over a week ago. Diane's ben getting it right every day at Cannes and this is a great stand-out chic look. I was also happy to see Doutzen Kroes at the event. I've been crazy about her ever since I saw her at the Giles FW12 show. She looked amazing in a modern Versace gown. Karolina Kurkova, not happy with being one of the best dressed at this year's Met Ball, had another golden moment in Roberto Cavalli. Simply stunning. Milla Jovovich, who has had both hits and misses in the last couple of days at Cannes, made up for all her mistakes in one of the best pieces from the Atelier Versace SS12 collection.
Anja Rubik has found in the last years the perfect balance between looking ultra sexy and sophisticated. I am loving this Emilio Pucci moment – the pulled-back hair, the smoky eyes, the emerald and diamond jewellery were all great choices. Magdalena Frackowiak wore embellishments, leopard print and feathers all in one dress by Roberto Cavalli. And I just loved how elegant she looked in it. Bianca Balti went for grey, which is not a colour we see very often on the red carpet. But I loved the contrast of the lighter shade of the lace and the darker silk – by Dolce & Gabbana, of course. Jessie J, who I was quite shocked to see in Cannes, went for a leopard print Louis Heal dress. I thought it was quite a refined chic choice, especially for her. And I love the fact that she stayed true to her own style wearing chunky boots

Met Ball 2012- The Best Dressed, Part II

As I said this morning I couldn't just post about my five favourite looks from this year's Met Ball. Last night I would have sworn I didn't like too many looks but after having a look at images of everyone I missed on the red carpet I changed my mind.
There seemed to be mixed feeling about Kristen Dunst in her Rodarte ensemble. But I loved the fact that it was unlike anything she has worn before and completely different from everyone else. I loved the colour, the cut, the lace detail under the blazer and the belt. It was perfectly styled and she looked ultra cool.
It kind of bothers me that no one ever puts Anna Wintour in the best dressed lists. I utterly adored this lobster Prada gown she wore last night. It was chic and fun and she looked so elegant. I simply love the fact that she always stays true to her style.
Bianca Brandolini went for a gilded Dolce & Gabbana number that obviously shone beautifully under the red carpet lights. This would have been such an exaggerated and over-the-top look on someone else but Bianca is so elegant and classy that she just looks like (fashion) royalty.
I was happy to see January Jones back in shape in an Atelier Versace gown. It has taken her a while to get her mojo back after the pregnancy but she is quickly getting there. The dress had such a different vibe than on the runway and I really liked the turquoise in the necklace, which gave the look a new dimension.

Giovanna Battaglia's Dolce & Gabbana dress put a smile on my face. It was so tremendously Italian and full of character but Gio wore it in such a young and chic way. And the braid and flower headband were such a great call!
Rooney Mara looked her edgy-meets-rocky-chic usual self. I guess none of us doubted she was going to wear Givenchy. I just wished she would have gone for a bit more drama or a different colour. But I loved the combination of lace and leather, Riccardo.
Cara Delevingne was one of the most fashion-forward attendees. I couldn't have loved her velvet Burberry dress any more. It was a stunning shape and I loved the detail of the collar and the studded Burberry gloves. How unfair is it that she gets to look so great wearing next season's clothes?

Who was your best and worst dressed? – Have I missed anyone on my lists?

Best Dressed of the Weekend- Stella McCartney steals the show

Best Dressed of the Weekend: Stella McCartney steals the show

Even though Coachella kicked off this weekend I am not impressed so far with anyone's outfits – least of all Kate Bosworth's, who got it so wrong in a pair of wellies.
Gratefully, Dree Hemingway made an appearance at the Mulberry party to save the day looking absolutely awesome in a Dolce & Gabbana number that, despite what it might sound like, was as apt as it gets for a festival like this. It would have just been perfect for her to wear this to a Red Hot Chilli Peppers' concert, no? (I know, I'm too funny).
Meanwhile, back in LA Paul McCartney threw a party to celebrate the launch of his latest music video and, of course, everyone wore Stella to the event.
Gwen Stefani is probably my favourite. I loved her look of a sort of merged together tuxedo trousers, corset top and a peplum detail. Never a see-through outfit was so classy and cool. Simply fabulous.
Miranda Kerr was also amongst the most stylish attendees. She went for one of the SS12 McCartney dresses that have been so popular already but she chose a black version. I just love this because being monocolour makes the details of the different textures a lot more subtle and the mesh really stands out. It was a simple killer look!

Dolce & Gabbana presents their new ‘Animalier’ Bicycle

Dolce & Gabbana presents their new 'Animalier' Bicycle
Courtesy of Catching Instants
A few months ago during the FW12 womenswear shows in Milan you must have seen quite a few pictures on Twitter of editors and buyers cycling around the city in a stylish leopard-print bike.
The bicycle in question is by Dolce & Gabbana – who else? – and will be launched during the famous Salone del Mobile, which takes place 17th to 22nd of April in Milan.
I'm sure we will be seeing a cool new ad campaign for the bike. I would love to have someone like Beyoncé or Rihanna riding around Milan or Paris in an all-leopard Dolce & Gabbana outfit as the campaign, how cool would it be?
In the meantime, I am happy with these pictures shot by the talented Elena Braghieri from Catching Instants (via Vogue.de). They were taken in February during the shows – Tamu McPherson, Elisa Nalin and Ada Kokosar take to the bikes in Milano! My favourite, of course, is the ever so stylish Viviana Volpicella in her chic and modern green look showing everyone how it's done, even on wheels.

The bike will be available at selected Dolce & Gabbana stores and will cost around €1600 (about £1300).

Gossip Girl Fashion- ‘The Princess Dowry’

Gossip Girl Fashion: 'The Princess Dowry'
HomeoftheNutty.com, JustJared
This week's episode of Gossip Girl, 'The Princess Dowry', was one of the best we have seen from all season 5 both in terms of plot and of fashion. I feel like only Georgina stirring things up can make the plot exciting. We should have enough interesting episodes once the show comes back in about a month's time.
Apparently all it took for everyone to dress their best was for CeCe pass way. Her funeral reception made everyone turn up in their finest attire. Serena wore one of the simplest looks yet – a long-sleeve black tee tucked into a super chic Derek Lam printed skirt, which she accompanied with a beige Fey coat and one of Mulberry's  new travel bags. Blair was also quite simple, by her standards anyway, in a Zac Posen skirt and a beautiful Jason Wu lace top.
Georgina also looked incredible this time in a sexy Carven cut-out dress that really suited her. She covered up in another Burberry, this time metallic, trench coat. She does love a bit of a British touch. Lily wore a Chantilly lace Dolce & Gabbana dress and I loved the effect of the statement necklace over the see-through neckline – perfect for the occasion. And even Ivy (or Charlie) looked pretty stunning in a Milly lace dress very much in line with what we've seen the Duchess of Cambridge wear lately.

Currently obsessed with Sonam Kapoor’s style

I have to admit it usually takes me a while to get used to new celebrity faces. I like my usual suspects a bit too much sometimes. But every once in a while someone catches my attention and it's precisely because of how seldom this happens that I always know they're good.
This is the case of Sonam Kapoor, who I have been seeing everywhere lately and whose style I've become a huge fan of. I can't quite put my finger on how she does it but there is always something very lady-like about all her looks. Very sophisticated and put together. But there is also something incredibly modern about how she wears things.
I was first very pleasantly surprised with her subtle Burberry moment at the show in London last week. She wore a simple trench coat with a striking trim and hinted a pleated skirt underneath. I think I properly fell in love because of this Salvatore Ferragamo look she rocked last week. And confirmation came only a few days ago when she attended the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in Milan wearing one of the famous dresses from the SS12 collection. But my absolute definite favourite so far is Sonam in Roberto Cavalli. She also attended the show in Milan yesterday and looked incredibly chic! She pulls of the mix of snake and leopard print with the fur detailing like she does it every day. This moment makes me think of what Olivia Palermo would be like if she had an edge.

Dolce & Gabbana cover face off- Vogue Jappan vs. Vogue Turkey

Dolce & Gabbana cover face off: Vogue Japan vs. Vogue Turkey
FashionGoneRogue, Style.com
I have mentioned a few times over the last few weeks how I could see all the upcoming magazine covers being plastered in the amazing Prada SS12 collection. So far there has indeed been a lot of it but there have been those who have wanted to change things up a bit on their new covers. This is the case of the February's Vogue Turkey and Vogue Japan's March issue. What are the chances of going for exactly the same piece?! Both Bianca Balti (styled by Anna dello Russo) and Karolina Kurkova (by Daniela Paudice) don the same sext bejewelled number from Dolce & Gabbana's SS12 collection. I instantly recognised the ultra-mini dress as I still remember being in awe of how Magdalena Frackowiak wore it on the runway.
I can't really decide which cover I like better, which is unlike me. I like how Karolina's look is quite simple and only accessorised with Prada (ha!) earrings but I also like Bianca's 'Italiana' cover and the genius "Latin Lover" headline.

Best Dressed of the Weekend- Alexa and the side-slit
BDOTW4Dec
Best Dressed of the Weekend: Alexa and the side-slit
JustJared, Courtesy of Burberry
I found it hard this weekend to rank the four ladies on my Best Dressed of the Weekend because each of them have such individual styles.
It would be fair to say, though, that out of all four of them Alexa Chung was probably the one that surprised me the most. Not because she chose Burberry –everyone knows she's a big fan– but because how sexy the look was. We're used to short mod dresses but it's not often we see her pulling off sides-slits like this. I love how she balanced it out with the coat and the silver platform shoes was a perfect touch.
Amanda Seyfried went for a simple pale pink Calvin Klein number very much in the style that Alexa is known for, which she accessorised with a pair of nude YSL Trib Two pumps.
Isabel Lucas, one of my favourites in terms of style at the moment, wore Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall'11to celebrate the opening of the brand's Sydney flagship store. I just love how she managed to look dressed up but thanks to the prints the look still had some of her bohemian surf-girl vibe in it.
Amber Heard, who has been looking incredible during her 'Rum Diary' press tour, chose Dolce & Gabbana for a screening of the film in the Bahamas. Is it just me or could se be the new Dita von Teese?

Scarlett Johansson covers the last Interview of 2011, first of 2012
InterviewJAN12
TFS
We're not even in December yet and it seems like some magazines just can't wait to get into the new year. Interview, one of my favourites, has just released their December 2011/January 2012 cover. I must admit this is the only cover since Michelle William's back in May that I have been genuinely excited about. They got a little lost with the months in between them and now and started to find themselves again with the Chloë Moretz cover for November.
I have to admit that even though I am not the biggest Scarlett fan she looks absolutely incredible wearing Dolce & Gabbana on the cover, shot by Solve Sundsbo –I love the fact that this magazine belongs to Brant Publications and not Condé Nast so they really get to mix things up in terms of photographers. I haven't been able to check who styled Scarlett for the cover or the story inside but I can smell Karl Templer.
I am really somewhere between amazed and relieved that they finally did something so up to their own standard. I can't wait to read it back to back. Not too keen on the Donatella Versace interview by Nicki Minaj, though. That one's a miss for me.

Gossip Girl Fashion- ‘The Big Sleep No More’
GG05x07b
Last week I eventually decided against posting about Gossip Girl because I didn't have time to do it for Wednesday/Thursday and, to be honest, the fashion wasn't that notable anyway. This week's 'The Big Sleep No More' episode isn't particularly exciting fashion-wise but at least there's a couple of changes of clothes for every character. Even Serena!
Blair had a big big miss and quite a hit in this episode. The miss was her day look. I don't know if they're getting too much inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge but it's not working. The headpiece is completely out of place and even though I love the Dolce & Gabbana dress the thick black tights really spoil the vibe. I did appreciate the details, though. I love the Roger Vivier 'Diligence' bag and the cuff and the Phillip Lim shoes are super chic. The hit was her evening look –an embellished cocktail number by Oscar de la Renta that needed no extra accessorising. Alas, this better look is only in the episode for a short time.
My only question is, why isn't anyone wearing a coat? This is supposed to be New York in November.

Once again Serena (and when I say Serena I really mean the show's stylist, but you get the idea) was the best dressed this week. Not because she's trying particularly hard but because everyone else is looking so rubbish. Especially Charlie/Ivy. I have no words for her day look. It's like she's trying to be Serena on a budget and with a flat annoying face. I am only hoping that the cute M Missoni cardigan she wore this week is the beginning of slightly better fashion choices. Her evening dress I could have not minded were it not for the tacky flower details at the bottom of the skirt. Could someone put in a request for a wonder bra for her?
Serena's day look was very her. I am starting to get a bit tired of these boho city looks, though. Start wearing winter wear, it's bloody November! Serena is a huge Mulberry fan, I gather, and this week she's trying out the 'Harriet' bag, which she paired with a stunning statement necklace and a pair of studded burgundy Brian Atwoods that I loved. Her Moschino evening moment was so sexy. Not many people could pull off that many details on a dress but she looks very elegant and young. I simply love it!

Beyoncé’s fashion-filled ‘Party’ video
BeyoncePartyvideo1
There was a bit of buzz this morning in the office as some of the die-hard Beyoncé fans watched the new 'Play' Beyoncé video. I've always been keen on Queen B but being around these people every day has definitely made me pay more attention.

You know how much I love some current high fashion on a music video so it's no surprise that I'm posting about this. I love the mix of high and low and the styling of all the rest of the cast including B's sister Solange and of Kelly Rowland.
After watching it a couple of times to do the screen caps I noticed a few of the shots were very similar to the editorial by Sharif Hamza that Beyoncé did for the Dazed & Confused July11 issue. This made me wonder whether this video was shot quite a few months ago (B doesn't look preggers at all), which would explain the abundance of SS11 and FW11 pieces that would have been a lot more new then.

In any case, it's a really amazing fun video –you can watch it here– and the great styling only makes it better!

Best dressed of the weekend- VMAs Edition
VMAs11a
JustJared
This year's VMAs red carpet has been a little on the low side in terms of fashion –these are my favourite looks.
Beyoncé's pregnancy announcement has kind of overshadowed the show itself, which us UK residents will be able to watch on MTV from 8pm. Queen B looked incredibly beautiful in an asymmetric Lanvin dress. I loved how the hair was perfect for it and her huge emerald bracelet cuff was the best way to finish up the look. She later performed in a Dolce & Gabbana tux, also looking stunning!
Katie Holmes, who has been out of best dressed lists for a while, is my second best dressed. It's no secret that an Alaïa dress is the most effortless way of looking sexy and chic. I really liked Katie's hair and I actually thought her shoe choice made the look very interesting!
Zoe Saldana wasn't at her best last night but she still looked better than most attendees in her Barbara Bui dress. I loved that she paired it up with snakeskin wedges. It was a simple and chic summery look.
Britney, who was paid tribute last night, also looked amazing on her own way. She wore a Moschino romper/playsuit with a zig-zag sequin pattern layered with chiffon. It was really mini and pretty see-through, so still quite Britney but more demure than what we're used to. Never mind the shoes!

Dolce & Gabbana launch their e-store
dolcegabbanaestore
Courtesy of Dolce & Gabbana
It's a Dolce & Gabbana kind of week. First, the designer duo discussed their relationship with the digital world in a brilliant interview with Imran Amed from The Bussiness of Fashion and today they're launching their first e-store! Not happy with this, they are also throwing a party at Net-a-Porter's London headquarters tomorrow night to celebrate the arrival of their brand to the e-tail giant and its brother Mr Porter.
The new e-store is super user-friendly and even more blogger-friendly. Within a click one can share a look or item you like on twitter, facebook or tumblr. You can also choose whether you'd like to see the clothing grouped by category (ie. jackets, skirts, jumpers...), by look or by style. They even give you the option of choosing the way the results are displayed!
The packaging seems to be in consonance with the brand's cool and chic aesthetic and you even get free shipping when you spend over £200! What is not to like?!

Start shopping here.

Dolce & Gabbana talk digital progress with BoF
There is no one in the industry as good as Imran Amed at talking about the influence of the digital boom in fashion. He has lived every second of it in his own skin and it shows in his interviews.
Coinciding with the launch of Dolce & Gabbana's e-store site launch this week Imran has interviewed Domenico and Stefano to pick their brains on how they approach these changes and how involved they really are in their namesake company's digital revolution.
A not-to-be-missed interview.

TITLEcannes2011day1Cannes2011day1
Day one of the Cannes film festival started with all the right fashion choices. Cannes is a lot of fun because we always get to see an arrival day look for the photocall at the marina and an evening gown for the red carpet event.
My two favourites of the day were Rachel McAdams and Uma Thurman. Rachel first wore a Maxime Simoens cocktail number that read a lot better on the catwalk that it did against her pale skin and golden locks. To make up for it she wore an extraordinary Marchesa dress of red lace and nude chiffon. It's rare that a Marchesa dress blows me away because they are often overused but Rachel wears is with great flair. And I loved the sort of retro weaves on her hair!
Uma had two hits in a row. The first with one of the season's famous Dolce & Gabbana white dresses. A very simple and very sexy number that fit her like a glove. The second, also in white but by Versace. I loved the cut-outs of the original dress but I loved the kind of old Hollywood glamour that their absence gave the gown.
I was also very keen on Fan Bing Bing's choice. I first noticed her at the last Christian Dior Couture show and I loved her kind or oriental take on Dita Von Teese's style.
Salma Hayek, however, had not only one miss but two. Both signed by Gucci.

Emmanuelle's first cover

giselleVogueParisApril2010I was anxious to see this. I  didn't know whether Emmanuelle Alt would swift from Carine's cover aesthetic to mark her reign as Vogue Paris queen or if she would instead progressively settle into the job by kind of continuing to do what Carine had done before and (maybe) slowly changing things to her aesthetic. I love the fact that Giselle is on the cover, especially in Dolce & Gabbana. For some reason supermodels give those southern Italian dresses a different flair than everyone else. I also really like the way the text has been laid out and how white completely takes over the page. It's not the most original of covers but it's better to be safe than to aim to high and fail massively on your first issue, non?
