Dakota and Elle Fanning cover W magazine
Wdecember11
TFS
W has had so many hit covers this year so it's great to see them closing the year on such a good note. Dakota and Elle Fanning cover the December issue styled in Valentino by Lori Goldstein for the cover and shot by Mario Sorrenti.
I wonder whether it's a coincidence that this issue should come out at the same time as Vogue Best Dressed with Mary-Kate and Ashley on the cover. As far as I'm concerned, the Olsens are unbeatable both separately and as sisters –or should I say 'dynamic duos'?
What I love the most about the Fannings is the fact that they're super young and successful but they haven't fallen onto that tacky category of people like Selena Gomez. They don't feel manufactured and on top of it they're great actresses and dress incredibly well for their age.
It feels like Stefano Tonchi has finally found the place where he feels comfortable with W. He's brought half of Europe's fashion elite to its pages but, hey, Americans had to be introduced at some point.

The LOVE starts to spread

Yes, it is that time of the year again. LOVE magazine, after a little delay, will hit newstands next week on August 1st and they have released the second of their three covers for their 'Supernatural' issue.
We saw the first cover quite a while ago. It featured Nyasha Matonhodze wearing a crow head piece and crying black tears. I wasn't too keen on the cover then and even though it's still not working for me now I understand how it fits within the gothic-meets-romantic aesthetic of the new issue.
This second instalment of cover releases, also shot by Mert & Marcus, features Elle Fanning in a white lace number. I absolutely love it. It might be because, as I said before, I start to get the 'supernatural' theme or it might be because Elle makes anything look cool. I wasn't sure about the font change at the beginning but I have now decided I love it. It gives the magazine a more artistic and high-end feel. And I love how they've put the rest of text to the right, to make it different from what they usually do.
Let's hope they have saves the best for last and this is just an oeurs d'oeuvres!

It seems the May issue of American Vogue is full of fashion jewels. If Reese Witherspoon's beautiful editorial by Peter Lindbergh wasn't enough, Anna also decided to include an even more stunning story by Bruce Weber.
The concept for the shoot is supposed to be Natalia posing with all these Hollywood young talent. To be honest, no one really caught my attention apart from Chloë Morezt, Hailee Steinfeld and Elle Fanning posing with Natalia, in Oscar de la Renta, before bedtime. And that's what makes Bruce Weber so great. He's got the cinematic quality of Annie Leibovitz but he tells his stories in a more documentary glossy way.
I couldn't find a styling credit anywhere. Wouldn't it be great if Anna herself had done it? After all, Natalia is wearing her Balenciaga Pre-Fall dress in one of the pictures.

A Rodarte kind of life

I don't know if any of you are avid followers of the Nowness. I have been reading, watching and being in daily awe since I discovered the website shortly after its launch in February last year. This week, or last Tuesday to be more precise, they published the long anticipated Rodarte short film, 'The Curve of Forgotten Things', directed by Todd Cole and starring Elle Fanning. I am a sucker for the Mulleavy sisters' aesthetic and have become very interested in Elle over the last few months despite not having yet seen 'Somewhere'. I have, however, seen her at plenty of press tour events wearing a fair share of Valentino and not enough although quite memorable SS11 Rodarte. Like this dress, a version of which she dons in the film.

Coincidentally, the release of the Rodarte short film happened on the same week as the Mulleavy's collection for Opening Ceremony hit the online store. This collection, while devised as a kind of diffusion line, is made up by as many well made desirable pieces as their main one. The sandy, beige and golden colour palette with a strong presence of tapestry fabrics is very much in line with what we saw on the runway. The only difference is there are a lot more separates —they do more pants for OC and also more accessories. The sunglasses and the shoes are a favourite of mine. Particularly the low cowboy boots in the oversized paisley material. Check out the whole collection here.
