Last night Glamour Spain celebrated the 10th anniversary of the magazine with a garden party at the Italian Embassy in Madrid. But, of course, the night wouldn't have been complete without some awards being given. Eugenia Silva, Judit Mascó, Laura Ponte, Martina Klein, Vanessa Lorenzo and Verónica Blume were named 'Muses of Spanish Fashion'. And very rightly so, when Spanish fashion was still a baby they were already walking in Paris and Milan.
Giles Deacon was awarded 'Design Icon', Poppy Delevigne named as 'Trend Icon', Jason Lewis as 'Masculine Icon', and supermodel Lily Donaldson won the 'Beauty Muse' award.
I was quite impressed with a few of the guests but these on the right are my favourites. Poppy Delevingne would look like a goddess in a tracksuit, so this Julien McDonald dress she wore last night blew my mind. I hate being unfaithful to Poppy but Eugenia Silva rocked my world in her ultra sexy Nicolas Vaudelet. The insane side-slit and embroidered top were as daring as they were chic. Martina Klein went for a red Lanvin number. I loved how she went for a lot of skin at the bottom and a lot of volume on top. Nieves Álvarez probably didn't try very hard but when you're so elegant and you're wearing Giambattista Valli Couture you don't have to.

covered stardom

The cover of US Vogue's June issue was made public yesterday and revealed that Blake Lively is once again made its cover. I didn't know if it was me or Blake had actually been in a lot of big magazine covers in the last months so I did some cover digging last night. She started appearing on W magazine in 2008 after being in Gossip Girl for just over a year. From then on, she was literally all over the place, starting with her not-so-age-appropriate Vogue cover in February 2009 and rounding it up to be the front of the American bible again next month. I can't really complain about this, as Blake is anything but unpleasant to the eye but reading Fashionista yesterday a very fair point was made by pointing out she is "not exactly modern American woman material".

I suppose Anna Wintour very much adores Blake's perfect body, which is why it kind of makes sense to choose Lively as the most suitable celebrity to sport swimwear. But still, American Vogue seems to be missing the point more often than not lately. We want to see something new, don't we?
I'm off.

PS. Look out for our Gossip Girl fashion special tomorrow!

iStyle, or do i?

A stylist on the palm of your hand. 'Ask A Stylist', Like.com and Glamour magazine's latest (free) app for the iPhone intends to solve daily wardrobe struggles by having a team of professional stylists working around the clock and promising answers to queries within 10 minutes. They can allegedly provide you with anything from styling tips about a particular item to helping you make up your mind between potential purchases. All you have to do is attach a snapshot to your query and sit tight.

Now, reading several reviews of the app I noticed how those 10 minutes they are supposed to reply you by are most likely to be the time you wait for your answer before you stop trying. Giulia herself tried it today and didn't get an answer that easily. Another issue that pops up in the reviews concerns the quality of advice. Surprise, surprise, the advice may be unoriginal or obvious (watch the Wall Street Journal's video of their experience with the app below). After all, there is a reason why Rachel Zoe charges $6000 a day.

I'm off.
