The orchestrator

After devoting to much time, thought and blog space to the Golden Globes it seemed quite unfair not to post one last picture from the night. We get so fixated on celebrities that we forget the people who make them look that phenomenal. Rachel Zoe is, without question, the queen of celebrity stylists. But not only that but she has one of the most exquisite personal styles. For her big night she donned a vintage Balmain. She has never looked better. Giulia and I just can't wait for more "Rachel Zoe Project", hopefully we'll see her in that famous Chanel she demands to wear during childbirth.

Collage Sunday, 31.10.10

RachelZoeWhen I started preparing today's Collage Sunday I first thought about putting together a Halloween-themed collage. But I changed my mind because I'm not one for costumes. Ever since I was a young kid I was never into dressing up —in a non-stylish way anyway—, which is why the last time I did dress up was as a Mad Men character. I know, you can't believe it. And so I realised how perfect Rachel Zoe would be as a Halloween costume. It'd be easy to create and absolutely "beyond". And I also wanted to dedicate her the collage because her passion for fashion can't be topped (except for, perhaps, AdR) and she is expecting what will most likely be the most stylish kid ever to live in this world.
Happy Halloween!

I'm off.

Collage Sunday, 30.05.10

CollageSunday-30.05.10-CatherineBabaI decided to create today's Collage Sunday around the amazing Catherine Baba. She's the most exquisite stylist I know of and her personal style is très magnifique. There is this kind of 20's dapper meets 30's glamour via a trip through Asia. I love how she mixes prints and textures and, specially, how she accessorises and does her make up. Behold.
Check out this video of Baba at the Hyères 2008 festival interviewed by the also iconic Diane Pernet. I've always thought she should have her own TV show like Rachel Zoe. Baba is like an über-European, super sophisticated version of Zoe. I could listen to her talk all day. Voilà, J'adore.

iStyle, or do i?

A stylist on the palm of your hand. 'Ask A Stylist', Like.com and Glamour magazine's latest (free) app for the iPhone intends to solve daily wardrobe struggles by having a team of professional stylists working around the clock and promising answers to queries within 10 minutes. They can allegedly provide you with anything from styling tips about a particular item to helping you make up your mind between potential purchases. All you have to do is attach a snapshot to your query and sit tight.

Now, reading several reviews of the app I noticed how those 10 minutes they are supposed to reply you by are most likely to be the time you wait for your answer before you stop trying. Giulia herself tried it today and didn't get an answer that easily. Another issue that pops up in the reviews concerns the quality of advice. Surprise, surprise, the advice may be unoriginal or obvious (watch the Wall Street Journal's video of their experience with the app below). After all, there is a reason why Rachel Zoe charges $6000 a day.

Spanish flair

It's quite funny how particular doses of Balmain and Isabel Marant can easily lead one to believe that a female who often walks the Tuileries in them is Vogue Paris staff. And that was exactly what I assumed about Bárbara Martelo until only a few weeks ago. The truth is this stunning brunette is a Spanish Voguette. I am yet to purchase the March issue (Anja on the cover, woop!) and see what work she's produced lately. But considering she can pull off the multi-coloured Marant fur coat, I am expecting excellence.
