The thing is I don't know whether to praise or slate this cover. On the one hand, I would have never guessed it was Vogue Italia, this seems more like a thing Vogue España would do –neutral background, a simple sexy dress, young model. I would have never guessed it was a Steven Meisel shot. But this is, in fact, the December cover of Vogue Italia.
My favourite thing about it, of course, is the fact that Karlie Kloss is on the cover. She reminds me a lot of a younger Giselle Bündchen and she's definitely rocking the nude Valentino dress. I can appreciate that perhaps what Franca was trying to do with this cover is going for a 90's minimalist/supermodel vibe. But it doesn't quite work.
It's a little underwhelming to put an end to the year like this after such brilliant covers. They already went for a sort of supermodel revival a few months ago for the July issue with Christy Turlington. Perhaps this is a way to build up for January to start 2012 with a boom?

This weekend I felt compelled to bring back the 'Best dressed of the Weekend' if only for Elizabeth Olsen. Her Chanel Haute Couture look for the premiere of her film in London is one of the best things I've seen on the red carpet as of late. I said we had to look out for her when I included her in one of my BTOTW posts in January and I am happy to say I wasn't wrong.
My second favourite is Hailee Steinfeld. I'm really digging this Clémence Poésy-inspired look. She's kept things age-appropriate but also very cool and forward. I love the mix of the Chanel jacket and he Jil Sander shirt. I guess Miuccia doesn't chose someone to be the face of her campaigns for no reason, right?
Karlie Kloss and Giovanna Battaglia are both in this week too with looks they wore to the same event. I am impressed that Karlie didn't go for a very 'open' dress as she usually does. This white number with the long fur gillet is extremely chic and needs no other accessory than her beautiful face and her flirty blue eyes. Giovanna is one of my best dressed people in the world. I really loved the silhouette of her white dress with the black detailing in the middle and how she accessorised it with simple hair and makeup, golden hoops and stunning feather pumps.

Take a look at the H&M winter look book, which has just come out. I know we have barely even started wearing summer clothes but it's never to early to start planning your buys for next season. At least when it comes to high street brands. I am really impressed with their f/w11 collection. There is a clear and strong 20's influence (and 'Miu Miu' heels) but it's been softened by using earthy tones instead of blacks and sequins. I am also very keen on the prints, which make a nice contrast. And I love the fact that Karlie Kloss models half of the pieces. That walk...!

I've never been too keen on sunglasses trends, especially that big wave of huge round shapes that covered half of the face. I'm more of a classic man when it comes to shades and so I mostly stick to my Way Farers and Aviators. There are always exceptions like Tom Ford and Chanel sunglasses, which often reinvent old models in very chic ways. And that is what Dior has done for their line of sunglasses for the summer called "Les Marquises". I really like the 'Diormohotani' models, which are Dior's take on the Way Farer, but I absolutely love the 'Diormotuoni'. They are so incredibly pin-up 50's and I love how they have played with different colours of mother of pearl for the frames and a different one on the legs. I also love the fact that the different colour combinations are all very Dior and go in line with the summer collection's Hawaiian setting while still being pieces you can wear through the season. If, to that, you add how stunning Karlie Kloss looks in them, it's just too hard to resist.

I know I have been pretty rubbish at blogging for the last week or so. I've had so many ideas for posts but so little time to actually sit down and edit the pictures and write. Which is half of the reason for posting these pictures today. The other half is how incredible this shots by Edward Enninful for i-D magazine are. Karlie Kloss and Jourdan Dunn are possibly two of the most beautiful and interesting models of the moment. In fact, there is something so special even just about the way they look into the camera that there's nearly no point for Kayt Jones' styling (not that it's that good anyway). There's great chemistry between the two girls and obviously with the photographer too and it transcends the page. I'm not or have ever been a fan of i-D in the least but this story is just phenomenal and possibly one of the best things they've ever published. Check out the rest of the shoot here.

Karlie Kloss is my favourite model of the moment. I love her smile and the sexy and playful look that's always in her eyes. Her SS11 editorial for AnOther magazine and today's sunny London have automatically got me in the mood for the new season. I want to do lots of colour blocking and pattern mixing! Happy Saturday.

Collage Sunday, 24.10.10

To continue with our Fashion Month inspired collages I decided to choose the model that stood out the most during the SS11 season —Karlie Kloss, an 18-year-old American girl whose "death stare" and famous walk have donned all the most important designers from Rodarte to Dolce & Gabbana to Chanel. Even Fashionista.com dedicated an ode to her this season. I wasn't lucky enough to see her walk in the flesh this season but I was mesmerised by her catwalk pictures from Style.com and kept saving them to my archive even if I didn't like the designer look she was wearing. Here comes another supermodel. -Happy Sunday!
