spring CHICNESS

As much excited as I get because of the arrival of Spring there is always a certain doubt haunting me, making me wonder whether I will be successful in my ever pursuit of chicness. Most people think it is easier looking good when you are a guy but, oh believe me when I say that is far from true. Playing with simplicity 24/7 may seem a dream come true but it gets as complicated as it can. That is why I take as much inspiration from womenswear as I do for the one corresponding to me and this is how I found this perfect Spring collection from a Spanish designer I already mentioned in the "Colour for us" post a few weeks ago. I then showed you part of Purificación García's mens collection but it was about time the womens line made an appearance on soVIPzone.
I have to say I am quite into the monochrome outfitting spreading out lately, it seems a very simplistic yet sophisticated way of putting ensembles together. Playing around with textures, cuts and layering can result is such a diverse number of unbelievably chic combinations we can't even begin to imagine. Have a look.

Tailored trousers and shorts paired up with soft cotton tops and some pleating.

Sequins, patent leather and playing with sheer introduce innovation.

Massive bell-bottoms look extremely chic with fitted tops as tight pants do with loose tops.

The "sport" line brings it a little more colour, keeping it settled all the same. Fits loosen up and sleeves go up.

the CHARM behind the curtain

They used to be the person behind the velvet curtain, those stepping out of it for a second so short one wondered whether they had actually been seen. Designers have always been something of a slightly mysterious nature, an aspect that kept the on-lookers ever-interested and amused. I confess myself a gossip blog addict, not a day goes by without my religiously checking them out to posses the most updated celebrity knowledge. This is why I cannot decide whether I'd like to see more of the personal life of designers, their hook-ups à la Marc Jacobs or their most Tom Ford-ish nude derrières. However, I do know I would never in my life choose not to glance at my dearest geniuses' outfits. Geniuses such as il signore Stefano Pilati, YSL's source of never-ending innovative chicness in and out of the runway.

Learn from the master.

Katie's WAY

Yesterday evening I found myself changing channels on my telly wondering if anything worth speding a few of my minutes was on. Unsurprisingly, every single station and its show was duller than the previous one. And then I came across a regional channel airing antiques. Exactly, "Dawson's Creek" was on and I ought to admit I couldn't refuse watching for a bit. Katie appeared and I was not blown away like I used to as a child, I wasn't certainly blinking either, but the reason was different this time. How can an average cute girl turn into an elegant, sexy fashion icon? The ways of style are mysterious.
Not long after giving up my little hope on television I decided to give the Internet a go. My gossip sources were obviously first. She was there again, only in a very dinstict version of herself. Mrs. Cruise is promoting her new film "Mad Money" and, therefore, giving all sorts of interviews and making endless outfit changes. I can't make a decision whether I love more the red for Letterman or the camel for Regis & Kelly. Being that coat the masterpiece that it is, there was no way she would only wear it once so it was also the choice for her Good Morning America appereance too. It's spectacular how she manages to achieve the perfect chic look, like the old Hollywood stars effortlessly spreading glamour everywhere they went.
