Spring collaboration alert- DVF for Current:Elliott

Spring collaboration alert: DVF for Current/Elliorr

This week Diane von Furstemberg has announced her collaboration with denim super brand Current/Elliott. I think it's great for someone as iconic at DVF to try and reach younger audiences, and denim is the best way.
The collaboration works perfectly both ways as Current/Elliot helped devising the straight-legged jeans and DVF injected their DNA with the denim pencil skirt and their iconic wrap dress. All of which, except the latter, come in bold floral prints that also feel quite timeless and have DVF written all over them.
Our favourite are the pale lime green jeans with the white tropical print – perfect for a chilled summer look with a simple tee a funky sandals or a fun evening outfit with heels.
The collection hits stores this March and prices range between £200 and £366 for the wrap dress.

Jeans for the cult, by Marni
Marnijeans

Marni is one of those brands that you either love or you just don't like. I say this every time I post about them because I feel like I always have to justify why I use the word 'cult'.

Consuelo Castiglioni, being the genius that she is, has just launched a jeans range for the brand. The style is very Marni with an accent on volume and a play with different materials —"The collection is composed of 2 silhouettes, skinny and regular, available in different washes and in a mix of denim and fabric".
I love the idea of a half wool half denim jean, anything to keep be warm and cool in the winter. My favourites, though, are the checked melange felt and denim piece (center) and the corduroy/denim one.

Le Chanel Couture jean

After being surprisingly awed by Alexis Mabille, slightly disappointed by Christian Dior and half amazed and half baffled by Armani Privé it came as a relief that Kaiser Karl decided to go back to basics for his Chanel S/S11 Haute Couture collection. Putting aside how admirable it is that he has single-handedly designed a 66-look collection only weeks before his equally broad ready-to-wear line is due out, what I was most stunned by the subtlety of its richness. Most particularly by the jeans. It seems ever so wonderful and brilliant to me that a house such as Chanel would make the epitome of casual wear in a way that qualifies as Couture. Forget your Japanese denim, none other than Chanel's is better made. The light blue and pink wash and the button detailing at the bottom make them extremely timeless and classy but there is also a certain contemporary aspect to them. I'm definitely expecting Emmanuelle Alt and Géraldine Saglio, perhaps even Alexa Chung (and, oh lord, Anna Wintour in jeans?!) very soon!

Victoria reads soVIPzone

If only...
A beautiful start to a Wednesday morning. I woke up to these stills of Posh Spice in an all-Balmain ensemble. Victoria Beckham trusts me so much that once she read soVIPzone's last post about washed jeans she had the urge to be the first one to epitomise it on the streets. A short visit to the Balmain section of any Milan selection store made this possible. She looks so cool and extremely exclusive, I will give her that. And I love the Birkin as a classic touch.
Do you read soVIPzone too? :P

rip & wash

It might seem like the easiest thing to do but I am sure many of you will nod in agreement when I say finding the perfect ripped jeans is not easy at all. Whether it is the awkwardness in placing, the surplus in number or the excess in size finding a pair of ripped denim trousers might take a lifetime. I found my perfect pair when I was about sixteen —straight jeans that added an edge to anything. Ever since then nothing even close to tolerable jeans came my way. I am still looking as of yet.
Drew Barrimore in classic ripped jeans, a similar model by Current/Elliott at eLuxury.com, Taylor Momsen in a model with little space left to rip and a similar cooler model from Acne Jeans also at eLuxury.com.

Now, finding bleached or acid washed denim is an easier task altogether. I came across my suitable pair at the easiest place, American Apparel. The slightly bleached blue jeans. But you girls in search for a pair of those have a wider range to choose from. Have a look.
Gwen Stefani slips into a tye-dye number for an Elle photoshoot. Clockwise from her right, astudded pair from TopShop, a white and blue one by J. Brand at LuisaViaRoma.com, and other options in the shape of "jeggings" from American Apparel.

LiLo combines both trends but goes for a whiter version —bleached jeans. Clockwise from the left, my choice: the mineral wash from American Apparel, and two very bleached versions by TopShop.
