I can't stop staring at this pictures! The new Prada campaign for their Resort 2013 collection featuring Shasha Pivovarova and shit by Steven Klein is simply stunning. I remember first seeing this collection back in June in Milan when Miuccia showed it together with her menswear SS13 line. I loved the clean lines and the androgynous feel of the entire collection. I'm not happy to see some new pieces including the bejewelled tops, the amazing silver platform pumps and, my favourite, the also bejewelled headband. It's like something Blair Waldorf would wear to go for a jog.

Marc Jacobs Resort 2013 face-off- Hailee Steinfeld vs. Anna Wintour

Marc Jacobs Resort 2013 face-off: Hailee Steinfeld vs. Anna Wintour
Three days ago for 'The Dark Knight Rises' premiere in LA Hailee Steinfeld chose to wear a sequinned Marc Jacobs number from his Cruise 2013 collection. It was, in fact, the same dress Anna Wintour wore to the CFDA awards a few weeks back.
Hailee went for a 'total look' including Jacobs' clog-like sandals and tube clutch accompanied with simple makeup and hair. Anna, on the other hand, added her signature Manolo Blahnik sling-backs and jewelled necklace. She also added a skinny red belt. I personally find Anna's take a lot more feminine and effortless. What do you think?

First Look at Prada Resort 2013

First look at Prada Resort 2013

I came back to London last night after spending the most amazing 3 days in Milan for menswear fashion week. And I'm back with so many updates there are even some womenswear posts coming up and an Ed Westwick related one.
Prada was one of my favourite shows from Milan and one of the few that includes women's looks hinting at the feel for the collection that we'll see in September. I was surprised to find the Prada space completely transformed from the vibrant setting of last season to a basic and sterile yet impressive white area.
Apparently, Miuccia wanted to strip her collection off all the decorations, prints, ornate accessories we have been seeing for the past few seasons. For me, this was a very Prada collection because it brought together the subtle nods to sportswear we always see (polo shirts, headbands, their contemporary tailoring, and a certain androgyny. The latte was the key of this collection – a few pieces aside, womens and menswear was one collection. The exception were the fur coats and trimmings that brought it a quirky Prada touch.

Check out my video of the finale below.

Cruise 2013- The best bits so far

Cruise 2013: The best bits so far

Is it me or have the Resort collections never been this good? We always knew that this and Pre-Fall were the most important collections commercially because they're the ones that stay on the shelves for longer, and hence make the money. But a few years back I was the first one complaining about how bland and pointless they were.
Well, I am changing my tune. Cruise 2013 is full of hits and excellent pieces! Balenciaga's collection was full of great ideas – cleavage cut-outs, hello? But I was especially keen on the footwear. The bow effect Ghesquière created on the bicolour leather boots might just make these as big a hit as his gladiator boots were back for SS08.
I also fell in love with Bottega Veneta. More precisely, with their tracksuits. I can solemnly swear that I have never, nor will I wear a tracksuit outside a gym but these are so cool. There's a 70's vibe to the colours and lines that, together with the nice fabric, makes it chic – there, I said it. These would have been so perfect for Farrah Fawcett in Charlie's Angels.
Michael Kors is doing great stuff at the moment. His Resort collection has this perfect balance between the relaxed relaxed and the super luxe – reluxed? I especially like the gold pieces: lamé, lace and knits that are just timeless.

First look at Chanel Cruise 2013- Marie Antoinette in Doc Martens

First Look at Chanel Cruise 2013: Marie Antoinette in Doc Martens

Today all the lucky industry insiders made pilgrimage to Versailles for the Cruise 2013 Chanel show, which took place in stunning gardens of the Palace of Versailles, the famous opulent residence of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.
Lagerfeld has made a habit of staging his in-between-seasons in the settings that inspired the collections so the Marie Antoinette references on their way. What I loved the most about the collection is the sense of humour. The models wore 18th century wigs like the ones the men of the Parisian bourgeoisie used to sport only this time they came in strawberry red, pistachio green and cerulean blue (have been dying for years to mention this specific shade...)
The clothes were super short and sexy with brocade and light tweed fabrics that were nods to the 18th century dress undergarments such as bloomers and pantaloons. I especially loved the oversized tweed jackets in powder pink and blue, which would look amazing with a pair of denim shorts and flats in the summer.
The most surprising part of the collection were the Doctor Martens-style platform shoes that brought an even more modern touch to the collection. I am still unsure about them but they will, no wonder, be a hit amongst the fashion elite in months to come.

What do you think of the collection?
