Give your Apple some Liberty

About a week ago, Giulia and I were having a chat about which designer brands have created covers in their signature materials and patters for the über-famous iPad. Giulia had been on the hunt for one of them as a present and she had been told they were sold out at Louis Vuitton already but she luckily managed to get a hold of a Prada one before is too late. She also found out Hermès has made their own version but, much to our bafflement, it won't be out until after Christmas. The latest addition to the club is Liberty of London. They have created an incredible range of iPad, MacBook and iPhone covers in an array of designs and colours just in time for Christmas. My favourites are, of course, the pieces in their iconic patterned leather (in black, chocolate, blue and red) but they can also be found in a Gecko print (very cool!) and in some very British flower prints. The price range, £50 - £250, also makes them one of the most affordable choices on the market. You can buy the line at Liberty's website starting today and at their store from the 1st of December.

when Anna walks in

Last night Giulia and I attended the Liberty of London and 10 Corso Como party at Liberty's headquarters in London. They were celebrating the launching of their collaboration line and they had set up an amazing central display by Kris Ruhs and had a DJ that look very 70's in his shirt from the line. There was such a great atmosphere with nice background music and lovely people chatting around (amongst which stood the beautiful and ever-stylish Yasmin Sewell). But the highlight of the night was Anna Wintour's visit. She came in most casually and everyone stared in the same fashion. It is fascinating how all of us acknowledged her presence in such a settled way. No one wants to disturb Anna. This time, though, I was very shocked by her super tiny waist (no snacking going on there) and by her stunning trench-coat with the fur details. We died.

the Liberty of summer

I can't think of anything more essential in any women's summer wardrobe than prints, prints and more prints. However, finding the right tasteful one that works in different occasions is never the easiest endeavour. This summer Liberty of London has associated with the legendary 10 Corso Como to produce a collection of items in Liberty's "anthe" print. What I love most about Liberty's prints is that they keep reinventing what's in their archives rather than tossing out classics —something that gives them character, if you ask me. In addition, the pastel palette of the print makes it relevant this season in such a classic way that no matter how trends shift you will always be able to wear it. They have also produced a darker version of the print but I personally prefer this one. It looks great on the bikini or on the beach canvas bag, giving your outfits a bit of a chic ethnic touch.

All the items from the collection, which is coming out this month, will be exclusively sold at Liberty of London and 10 Corso Como in Milan and Seoul.

the pearl of Liberty

I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I saw her live —in a beautiful outfit including a belted sequinned sleeveless jacket and those beautiful curled locks. She flowed from room to room greeting people and casually posing for pictures. She was even more beautiful than Scott Schuman or even Garance could convey. That's why when I was introduced to her I barely remembered my name. But, during that short hiatus of elation, she was as nice and charming as her smile.

the enchanted jungle of Liberty

Last Tuesday, soVIPzone had the privilege of having a sneak peek at some of the pieces that Liberty of London has chosen for the coming Spring/Summer 2010 season. Not only the selection was exquisite, but the setting was spectacular. It felt like stepping into a fairytale jungle full of designer clothes and exciting jewellery pieces —live parrot included.
Giulia and I fell in love with the suede frilled jacket from Acne. Such a cool touch to wear over a tank top and some shorts in the summer.
Giulia fell head over heels for these headbands by Benoît Bessolin. They are made of latex, which gives them the motion of real flowers without the nuisance of having to replace them every week.
If the name Jerome Dreyfuss doesn't sound familiar, take good note. He designs very cool leather satchels perfect for any city girl. And he is married to Isabel Marant.
I could not stop staring at these. Eddie Borgo's spiky jewels add the perfect edge to a delicate dress. They are a good alternative to a pepper-spray as you can use them for self-defence. And she makes rings as well!
Liberty introduces its first gold pieces with these beautiful designs. Our favourite? The seahorse set —ring, earrings and bracelet.
Prints, prints, prints. I particularly loved the blue shirt with the colour strokes on the right. I feel it could work perfectly for the daytime with denim shorts or as part of a beige linen suit combo.
