First look at the Atelier Versace Jewellery collection

Yesterday, on my post about the Atelier Versace collection I said how excited I was to see the jewellery line that the house was also launching this week. From the shots of them I had seen from the show I knew that they were going to be bold, ornate yet timeless.
And today we can finally take a closer look at a few of the pieces, which seem to be mostly rings as it could be guessed from the show. As you might have expected, gold and rosé gold are the common thread on the collection, after all this is Versace. The golden frames are quite intricate and hold statement stones that look almost like regal pillows and are often decorated with diamonds.
I am still waiting to see some of the emerald and sapphire pieces. Green and blue are two of my favourite colours in jewellery!

What do you think of the Atelier Versace jewellery collection?

The Prada SS12 Jewellery collection

Prada's is always one of those collections you always remember vividly. It is also often the one with the most editorial and street style hits every season. I personally thought that their SS12 line was one of he best in years. Miuccia's sweet collection mixed a general 50's inspiration with clear references to Grease, Elvis and even a little of Marilyn Monroe.

Despite my love and interest for womenswear jewellery has always been one of those things that I always feel like I have never quite grasped. I guess it's so personal and exclusive to women that it's hard for someone who has never or will never wear any to actually understand what makes it special or how it makes someone feel.
But that is not the case with Prada's SS12 jewellery pieces. They were one of the things that caught my attention the most. I was blown away by the slightly baroque yet exquisitely refined earrings, chokers and necklaces. And I absolutely loved the belts!
Prada is now announcing that these pieces mixing materials such as leather and resin with coloured gemstones will be available at their stores from this November! What could a better Christmas present than my favourite –green leather earrings ending in dangling pink gemstones?

Get some Palermo on you

RobertabyOliviaPalermoAug2010
If you sit down and start making a list of celebrities that have launched one (or many) clothing or accessory lines you'll be surprised by how the number has increased over the last few years and shocked by how little relevance their brands have in the industry. The only exceptions are Elizabeth and James and The Row (The Olsen's fashion offsprings). Or they used to be. Olivia Palermo has been the latest celebrity/fashionista to venture into the business and she has done so with a line of jewellery in collaboration with designer Roberta Freymann. The result is a series of heavily embellished ethnic necklaces tied with a ribbon (a bit à la Lanvin). Statement jewellery that we have often seen on Olivia and that really works with her understated style. I now wonder if she'll venture into apparel because that will be a treat.

Roberta by Olivia Palermo ranges from £195 to £320 and is available online here.

How do you spell Scognamiglio?

I don't know about you but I am ever so amazed by the power of twitter. More of ten than not, I find myself taking ideas and inspiration for posts from links, images or statements people share on twitter. A few days ago Giovanna Battaglia and Anna dello Russo incessantly tweeted at Francesco Scognamiglio praising his latest FW10 campaign. And so I obviously felt compelled to have a look. It is true that it would have been hard to create a bad campaign for such a stunning collection but I found it specially good. I love how simple yet representative of Scognamiglio's style it is. The hair reminded me a little of what Aquascutum did for winter but this was sexier, more glamourous.

I, then, remembered a video from Garance Doré where Giovanna and Anna chat and giggle away (and give me an overdose of stylish cuteness) and where Anna says she can't spell Scognamiglio. It is thanks to that video that I found out about the Italian genius and that I can type it correctly faster than I can say it (which is quite an achievement). If you go through dello Russo's ensembles for last fashion week you will definitely remember a very short mini-dress with the most decadently opulent belt you have seen in your entire life. That was Scognamiglio. He is, to me, part of the Holy Trinity (Giambattista Valli, Antonio Berardi and him) of Italian-blooded men who transcend trends and create exquisite collections. You can get a hold of some Scognamiglio at Luisaviaroma. The prices are surprisingly good considering you will not only be getting an extremely well-cut piece but also a delicious piece of jewellery (so it's like a high-fashion '2 for 1').

vintage heaven

I don't often post about jewellery. In fact, Giulia takes care of that but she's been super busy with uni and hasn't really been able to post much. Which is why I was thrilled when the people from Ava + Aliria emailed me a few weeks ago. They were kind enough to invite us to their store opening. However, the opening was taking place in LA and my private jet was undergoing maintenance so I couldn't make it. But I had a look at their website and was loved everything I saw. Their jewellery is simply amazing. They cover all the best eras (from 1920's to 1980's) and they have an amazing eye very much to my taste. The shop looks lovely as well, and this is only from pictures. I got the feeling it is one of those vintage spots were Rachel Zoe "dies" over and over again and finds everything just "beyond".

I believe they are currently working on opening an online shop on their website so no chance for us to get a hold of their magnificent pieces yet. But for those of you in or around Cali, pay them a visit, you'll find the best unique accessories for the summer. And they stock clothes too!

never look at the camera & bejewelled

I has promised myself I would not post any more ad campaigns —unless something really exciting happened, that is. The SS10 Dior Homme campaign falls into this last category not only because Kris Van Assche deserves an A+ but because the pictures were taken by Monsieur Lagerfeld. And I am digging the looking away from the camera, don't know why.

I was having a random look online yesterday when I found the Lanvin parrot cuff which made me wish I had a very decadent girlfriend I could give it to. But it also made me think of how cool and versatile Lanvin jewellery is as you can throw it on a grey tee and look fashion-forward or make your LBD the most glamourous piece of clothing.

dancing through the night

Net-A-Porter's 2010 resort press preview was all about sparkles, sequins and party dresses. Inside a really minimalistic white room with a geometrical fire place were displayed all the precious clutches, extravagant pieces of jewellery, shiny high-heels and amazing clothes. I didn't had any doubt about N-a-P's buyers' sense of style, but there were some pieces that were really mind-blowing!
Because of my lace obsession of the moment, I immediately fell in love with Stella Mcartney's black lace dress, which is the perfect chic cocktail dress for any occasion.

Another dress that cought my attention was the pyton printed silk dress from Acne. The shape and the fabric were just très jolie. It is the perfect playful evening dress for every party girl that wants to have fun.

Oh the jewellery! I am a big big fan because, like other accessories, they add that personal touch of style to every look! Isharya's gold cuff is the perfect buy —you can wear it with any look you want. It iss the perfect touch to a simple every day outfit with a pair of flared jeans, a white t-shirt and a Chanel-looking jacket; or to an evening black one-shoulder dress.

Already in my wish-list for next summer are the Lanvin's hilarious strawberry earring. They are perfection! Funny, colourful and edgy looking. For something a little more classic, the Missoni pendent earrings are also a great accessory for the upcoming season.
YSL's purple"Tribute" suede sadals were divine, just like any YSL shoe. They make a woman feel confident and sexy. And this new colour will look fabulous on a spring day.Are you searching for the ideal christmas gift for your fashionista friends? Well, Miss McCartney has the answer —seven days, seven pairs of knickers. Each drawer contains a pair of knickers with the day of the week embroidered in pastel colours. They come in black and white and they are almost sold out, so hurry!

the enchanted jungle of Liberty

Last Tuesday, soVIPzone had the privilege of having a sneak peek at some of the pieces that Liberty of London has chosen for the coming Spring/Summer 2010 season. Not only the selection was exquisite, but the setting was spectacular. It felt like stepping into a fairytale jungle full of designer clothes and exciting jewellery pieces —live parrot included.
Giulia and I fell in love with the suede frilled jacket from Acne. Such a cool touch to wear over a tank top and some shorts in the summer.
Giulia fell head over heels for these headbands by Benoît Bessolin. They are made of latex, which gives them the motion of real flowers without the nuisance of having to replace them every week.
If the name Jerome Dreyfuss doesn't sound familiar, take good note. He designs very cool leather satchels perfect for any city girl. And he is married to Isabel Marant.
I could not stop staring at these. Eddie Borgo's spiky jewels add the perfect edge to a delicate dress. They are a good alternative to a pepper-spray as you can use them for self-defence. And she makes rings as well!
Liberty introduces its first gold pieces with these beautiful designs. Our favourite? The seahorse set —ring, earrings and bracelet.
Prints, prints, prints. I particularly loved the blue shirt with the colour strokes on the right. I feel it could work perfectly for the daytime with denim shorts or as part of a beige linen suit combo.
