Shock. That's what I felt when I first saw a picture of a blonde wearing a Meadham Kirchoff dress with Burberry Prorsum ankle boots in Paris. If you remember my post from a couple of days ago, that's exactly what Yasmin Sewell had worn in London two week earlier. I had a little giggle as I went to Yasmin's twitter and saw she had tweeted about it at the beginning of the month : "So I wear a meadham kirchoff dress with burberry boots to LFW, and some chic[k] wears the exact same outfit to PFW...what's that about?". It's funny how no one can get away with stuff like this anymore, all thanks to the internet. However, I have to say the poor girl didn't even stand a chance in the first place. To begin with, not only she isn't Yasmin (which is to say a lot) but she also doesn't have her fantastic hair. Concerning the outfit, Sewell managed to pull off a sophisticated take on that juxtaposition of fragile and tough I've mentioned so much lately. She looks cool and classy. Alas, the blonde girl was neither. Not only she decided to bare most of her body but she also added socks (to shearling boots!). Add in the polka dots from the dress and you get a homeless clown from Shoreditch.
I'm off.

What she wore: Yasmin Sewell
Last August Vogue made public that fashion consultant extraordinaire, Yasmin Sewell, was leaving her role as chief creative consultant of Liberty of London. In only three years, Sewell managed to reinvent the way Liberty's thought about fashion. She introduced a lot of new designers and brands bringing in new clientele while keeping the store's usuals coming back. But not only that, it was thanks to her that the store made their first profit in the last ten years. And so Sewell felt her work, Liberty's "fashion Renaissance", was complete and it was time to move it. Even though most of Yasmin's clients are kept confidential she reassured us (her fans!) that there will still be "publicised collaborations and ventures in the future". Don't miss her interview of the Telegraph.
We saw less of Sewells during this past fashion month. I don't know if street style photographers were not as interested because of her change of role (which would be outrageous) or if she simply attended less shows than usual. Whatever it may be she still looked spectacular when we did see her. My favourite part of hr style is how she always juxtaposes very tough elements like the Burberry Prorsum boots with extremely feminine, fragile garments like the sheer Meadham Kirchhoff dress. I also love the fact that she keeps her signature haircut immaculately coiffed and how she always wears different sunglasses.

the week in news: 12.07.10
I haven't done a news post in a while because I could never find more than two seemingly important events happening on the same week enough to fill some blog space. Thankfully, this week was different. We had a store opening, an editor turned model and my generation's reality show wrap-up. Take a look.
I'm off.

when Anna walks in
Last night Giulia and I attended the Liberty of London and 10 Corso Como party at Liberty's headquarters in London. They were celebrating the launching of their collaboration line and they had set up an amazing central display by Kris Ruhs and had a DJ that look very 70's in his shirt from the line. There was such a great atmosphere with nice background music and lovely people chatting around (amongst which stood the beautiful and ever-stylish Yasmin Sewell). But the highlight of the night was Anna Wintour's visit. She came in most casually and everyone stared in the same fashion. It is fascinating how all of us acknowledged her presence in such a settled way. No one wants to disturb Anna. This time, though, I was very shocked by her super tiny waist (no snacking going on there) and by her stunning trench-coat with the fur details. We died.

Anna Wintour, Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye (Liberty's CEO) and Carla Sozzani.

The beautiful display at Liberty's and the company's Head of Fashion, Alex Stylianidis, with Yasmin Sewell.

the pearl of Liberty
I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I saw her live —in a beautiful outfit including a belted sequinned sleeveless jacket and those beautiful curled locks. She flowed from room to room greeting people and casually posing for pictures. She was even more beautiful than Scott Schuman or even Garance could convey. That's why when I was introduced to her I barely remembered my name. But, during that short hiatus of elation, she was as nice and charming as her smile.[Picture credits: The Sartorialist, Garance Doré, Jak & Jill]
