Oscars 2010

It is the first time I have stayed up to watch the Oscars and I am elated. I feel part of a very cool club. But it does comes as a shock that I am making myself blog at half two in the morning. I have to admit I was part of the group of people who were not expecting much from this year's red carpet. Thankfully, my expectations were completely overwhelmed from the very moment I saw Diane Kruger. My favourite numbers, though, were Zoe Saldana's dream of a Givenchy, Sarah Jessica Parker's Chanel (that Karl made only for her), and the first Dries Van Noten (and FW10!) on the carpet worn by Maggie Gyllenhaal. But my favourite part of the gala was dapper Robert Downey Jr. in the most amazing combo to ever walk the runway —by Lanvin, of course.

Check out our Oscars live coverage on twitter. Now I will resume my watching of the show and the short night sleep that will follow.

Sherlock Downey Jr. and Shia is the plaid god

I had never thought much of Robert Downey Jr. Either as an actor or a celebrity. But thanks to the Sherlock Holmes storm on the British media I have gladly discovered that he isn't just a rather cool guy but also pretty damn stylish one. The Sherlock promotion tour has only started so I hope more moments like the ones below are yet to come.
Today, during JustJared morning routine I realised that I have been unconsciously saving pictures of Shia LaBeouf in plaid shirts for months —and I just realised how odd that sounds. I know most women don't think much of mens fashion but there is something so interesting about the detail choices we make. There are plenty plaid shirts to be found in any given store but it is always hard finding the type of check that looks good. Shia has a very good eye for this.
These are some of the choices I'd make and you are more than welcome to send any of them my way as a soVIP Christmas present.
Clockwise: Helmut Lang @ Barneys New York, John Varvatos @ Matches, Polo Ralph Lauren @ Liberty of London, Elizabeth and James @ Barneys New York, Paul Smith @ Liberty of London, Acne @ Matches.

I'm off.
