What Stephanie LaCava wore: LFW Day 4
KnowWear
Yesterday was a super crazy day in terms of shows, which is why I could not manage a post until today and why I unfortunately missed miss LaCava in the fashion mayhem that is the Burberry exodus. So I could not snap her fabulous outfit.
Gladly, we caught up today at Mary Katrantzou and later at Roksanda Ilincic (another two posts coming...) where she honoured the latter by sporting one of the tops from the SS12 collection that we saw together 6 months ago at the same venue.
Her hair was looking even more fantastic than normal and she had paired the bell-sleeved Roksanda top with a pair of Rag & Bone jeans that fitted her like a glove and her incredible pair of Ann Demeulemeester boots.
It was also sad to say goodbye to her but her Paris outfits, I am sure, will more than make up for it.

Stay tuned for all the London updates – it's so hard to keep up blog-wise as it takes quite a bit of time to edit the images for every post. But I will work my hardest to get everything live in the next couple of days!

What Stephanie LaCava wore – LFW Day 1

What Stephanie LaCava wore - LFW Day 1

Even though London Fashion Week kicked off I count today as day 1 because my dear Stephanie LaCava just touched down! We had a lot of catching up to do because we hadn't seen each other since September.

Last season I tried to do a little photo diary of what Stephanie wore everyday but we ended up having a ridiculously hectic few days so we kept forgetting. Hopefully this time around we get around to it. So far so good. Today I snapped her outside one of her first appointments in London dressed up in one of her famous chic ensembles.
She is wearing a khaki Thakoon jumpsuit gathered at the waist – you should see how amazingly it fits her –, a Jil Sander coat, Ann Demeulemeester boots and the greatest Maison Michel hat!

Show-wise, I am keeping things simple this season because I don't seem to be in a crazy fashion week mood. But I am covering a few really good shows I'm super excited about starting with Acne this evening. So stay tuned for updates on LFW!

Stephanie LaCava at NYFW: Get the look!
AllthePrettyBird.blogspot.com, Vogue.fr
I have to admit that during fashion week I spend just as much time (sometimes more) looking at street style pictures as I do the collections. It's just fascinating to see how people incorporate the previous season's collections into their wardrobes.
Stephanie LaCava is one of my favourites not only because she's such a sweet person but because her wardrobe choices are always so unexpected! SLC and I watched the SS12 Roksanda Ilincic show together in London last season and it was then that she fell in love with the bell sleeves. So I wasn't as surprised as I was pleased to see her in one of the amazing pieces from the collection. What I found super interesting is how she paired the top with a super short Miu Miu leather skirt from a few seasons back and a badass pair of Ann Demeulemeester boots. And that's exactly why I love her. There is an edge to everything she wears that we rarely see in anyone else but she manages to always look feminine.
Stephanie finished her look with a classic cream Chanel bag you might remember from my favourite picture of her taken in Paris by The Sartorialist a few years ago.

Collage Sunday, 14.11.10

CollageSunday-Automne RougeRed is one of those colours that never really goes out of fashion. However, for FW10 is is very much in. Everyone from the big French houses like Chanel and Givenchy to the fashion-forward rebels the likes of Ann Demeulemeester and Margiela to younger designers like Kamola and Dsquared2 have made red one of the strong points of their winter collections, be it on full looks or as dashes of colours. Even Vogue Italia gave a red Giorgio Armani the cover of their latest issue. If, like me, you are also a Christmas fanatic you'll find that red is not only the chicest way to a bright winter ensemble but also the merriest way to get into the the season's spirit. —Happy Sunday!

I'm off.

dress the GUILDS

You have been seeing several S/S 2009 menswear posts throughout the last few weeks and I am quite sure you will agree they are remarkably interesting to say the least. It seems men’s fashion is on its way to be considered as an equal in the eyes of womenswear. Alas, it might still be a little while until that moment comes but in the meantime we can enjoy the process of the little baby growing up to be a handsome (stylish) man.

S/S’09 is a season for the fashioning of guilds. Bizarre as it sounds; if you have a look at the pictures below it will actually make total sense. Everyone from cowboys to fishermen can experience a trendy summer and we can copy.

Modernity filters down to peasant fashion made in Burberry. Necklines go down and cardigans elongate to cover a bit more of tailored and denim pants. The thinnest fabrics appear in earth colours, cut in comfortable and well-looking fits. Rain hats are renewed to culminate the looks.

Gaultier put together the sort of collection that seems not only nuts but also impossible to pull off and then, when looked at for a second time, configures perfectly in your brain until you come to love it. Chequers and marine striped make an appearance on t-shirts and blazers but also on socks. Just like most of the other summer’09 collections Gaultier plays with layering rolling up jacket sleeves and crops pants to show the shirts and socks underneath.

It looks like hats are the next big thing for next summer. Ann Demeulemeester takes them to the next level, taking us back to Salem times when cheese-makers spent long ours under the shining sun. Trousers shorten up while sheer and baggy shirts make their way down to the knee.

Yes, it might seem you’re looking at creations from the hand of Sir Paul Smith. Don’t be fooled. Junya Watanabe is responsible for dressing the modern ice-cream men. Blue and red striped blazers are the clear protagonists although the most brilliant of features is the way Watanabe plays around with white and different shades of beige. Pants widen roll up and, again, hats get their way. Cream-colour trilby hats are everywhere.

Fishermen are not forgotten. Miharayasuhiro uses sailor vests over white shirts and bait hooks on tank tops. The latter have a certain medieval air, like a revival of the chain mail. Trousers starting as jeans and soon transforming into black chinos are my favourite thing about this collection.

This finishes up the posts about S/S 2009 menswear. Hope you have enjoyed them.
