Introducing the Miu Miu ‘Craquelè’ bag- Chloë Moretz’s favourite
ChloeMiuMiu1

At the age of 16 Chloë Moretz has already become something of a style icon. I guess it has a lot to do with her edgy personal style – she's definitely a lot edgier not only than girls her age but that celebrities much older than her. Chloë is currently in Paris enjoying some fashion week fun. During all her trip she's been inseparable from her Miu Miu Craquelè bag – the latest model from the house. What I love the most about it is how even though it's a classic bag the cracked leather effect gives it an ages aesthetic that kind of reminds you of those amazing pieces girls inherit from their grandmas and wear to death despite looking a little used. And who else but Miu Miu could turn this into a fashionable effect for a brand new bag?

Some of the new models are already available at MiuMiu.com

Miu Miu SS13- Cropped tops & fur for a femme fatale
MiuMiuSS13a
Miu Miu SS13: Cropped tops & fur for a femme fatale
There is a reason why Miu Miu is always the last big show of Paris Fashion Week and it was exactly because of it that I decided to watch the streaming online, which I have barely done this season. At first, I was totally taken with the venue chosen. It looked almost like a parliament room made of polished wood, the runway flanked by doric-inspired columns. As soon as the show started it made sense to me – it was a parliament alright, and Miuccia was about to do her personal coup d'état.
It was as surprising as it was interesting that Miu Miu took the 50's as inspiration because so many brands and designers have done it, including Prada, over the last few seasons. But this wasn't a collection to add to the pile. This was a new version of a femme fatale that makes her own rules, like the designer. We saw a lot of unwashed denim as long coats, loose pencil skirts and even as two-pieces suits that seemed to be intended as evening wear. Then came the ultra short cropped tops paired with said skirts and worn under long jackets and coats made of, wait for it, fur! I really do love when people don't play by the rules and it was so fun and refreshing to see fur on the runway, it made me think of that time earlier this summer when Lady Gaga herself was sporting a fur coat un August.

The Miu Miu front row was full of some of my favourite ladies: Amanda Seyfried, who looked amazing in a red Prada resort look; Emma stone, in a Miu Miu black strapless dress and Chloë Sevigny, face of Miu Miu F/W12, wore a full look by the brand proving she knows how to mix her prints.

You might have heard that Oz is back in fashion this season. Oz: The Great and Powerful – watch trailer here is set to hit cinema screens in March 2013 with an incredible cast including Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, James Franco and Michelle Williams. Now, there is no Dorothy here but I would bet Glinda, Michelle Williams character, wears glittery shoes under her white dress. And they are Miu Miu – duh.
The brand has released this month their glitter Mary Jane shoes for FW12. I am absolutely in love with the classic silver and black ones – the latter have a contrast sole in silver. But if you are not quite that bold you can also go for one of their patent leather models in fuchsia, nude and turquoise. They all come with a glittery sole and heel so you still have that surprise factor turning around. See the whole collection here.

Miu Miu presents the London Special Collection

Miu Miu has created a special collection designed exclusively for selected stores in London available from tomorrow 27th of July. Even though the line is not meant as an Olympic edition, the colour palette clearly links with the event, which also kicks off tomorrow. Bags, clutches, shoes, iPad and iPhone covers come in different shades of gold, silver and bronze. This is, by far, the chicest most subtle nod from a fashion brand to the Olympic Games.
The accessory line includes Bauletto bags in madras or nappa metalassé as well as sandals and lace-ups in nappa and silk. There is also a bijoux collection of hairbands, brooches and ticks in satin and leather decorated with hand-appliqued microcrystal embroidery – all very much in line with that traditional-meets-contemporary aesthetic Miu Miu is famous for tied to their FW12 collection.

Doutzen Kroes models my favourite FW12 pieces for Vogue Paris

Doutzen Kroes models my favourite FW12 pieces for Vogue Paris
TFS, Style.com
I received the August issue of Vogue Paris this weekend and even though I've been drooling over the Marion Cotillard cover for the most part I have also managed to take a look inside. I always really enjoy the August issues because there's just enough new season content to digest. The September issues are amazing to go through but they take several goes to process. Vogue Paris always does a long new season editorial story for August. This year's is called 'Paris mon amour' and is shot entirely by Mario Sorrenti (like 90% of the issue) and styled by Emmanuelle Alt, Joe McKenna and Marie Chaix. There are some incredible shots in it and I love how each stylist brings their different view to the story. My favourite, though, are the Doutzen Kroes pictures styled by Emmanuelle.
I've been infatuated with Doutzen ever since I saw her at the Giles show last season and I'm glad that Vogue Paris has got behind her. She even got her own cover in April. In the new editorial she models some of my favourite pieces from the FW12 collections. From the black croc Tom Ford number that Rihanna already rocked at the Met Ball, to the Miu Miu winter prints that will be all over the covers in a few months. The sexy emerald leopard Gucci dress Natasha Poly wore in Cannes and the stunning Burberry Prorsum quilted velvet coat that closed the FW12 show.

Slippers are the shoe of the season. And of next season too. I have a feeling they will become a wardrobe staple right after that. Every single shop and quite a few designers have created they're different takes but my favourite ones are these Miu Miu ones.

As opposed to everyone who likes to wear them in black, I like the bold choice from Miu Miu and how the 'regal' embroidery becomes more of a play on texture. They're perfect for muted looks and would look great in any scenario you can think of.
They are part of the brand's FW12 collection and are available at all their stores and online at MiuMiu.com

If the Mad Hatter from 'Alice in Wonderland' were a woman she would wear Miu Miu. That is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Chloë Sevigny as the face of the FW12 campaign, shot by Mert & Marcus. There is so much quirk and cool in this picture – I love!

Best Dressed of the Weekend- Kiernan Shipka wears Miu Miu

Penélope Cruz seems to be looking better now than she did before having a child and I'm glad she's showing it off. I love the wet hair look, which adds a beachy feel to her stunning Michael Kors dress. The accessories were neutral but added to the chicness, especially the Roger Vivier clutch.
Kiernan Shipka is quite simply the most stylish 12 year old in the world. I love seeing young stars enjoying dressing up but being aware that there's always plenty of time to experiment when you're old enough. Her Miu Miu dress with floral macramè embroidery was as fashion-forward as she can get.
Lady Gaga, who has been a bit off the radar lately and wearing slightly toned down looks (by her standards) stepped out in a great gown from the Atelier Versace collection – not one of my favourites but pretty amazing and even conservative for her.
And, of course, Emma Stone. I have a feeling I am going to be posting quite a bit about her over the next few weeks. For the Moscow stop of her Spiderman press tour she wore a floral Lanvin dress. I love the black strokes over it that make it look like an unfinished painting. The only flaw was her slightly odd eye shadow.

Madonna must have had a great experience wearing Miu Miu boots on stage because after wearing them for her memorable Halftime Superbowl performance back in February she's sporting new pairs on her MDNA tour.
In fact, she enjoyed the experience so much that even her dancers are wearing custom-made Miu Miu boots! But they all wear slightly different models to the queen of pop. Madonna wears black shine, buffalo-leather boots with red heels, which she wears covered with white leather spats. Her dancers' are almost identical but with golden heels instead.
It's already impressive to have exclusive shoes and dresses made especially for a concert tour but it's pretty amazing that all her talented crew are treated to the same luxuries. Lucky them!

This month Miu Miu launches as a preview of their FW12 collection, a new line of incredible bags. They will be available from June at their Capri, Forte dei Marmi and Porto Cervo (where the likes of Valentino and Olivia Palermo spend their summer) boutiques. The new model comes in colours such as fuoco, marea, bluette, acquamarina and soleil and is made of linen of straw and 'Madras' – the leather traditionally used by Miu Miu due to its exceptional artisan production techniques. It features Miu Miu's signature lock and hand-stitched tubular handles.
I can already see my favourite style icons – Jessica Alba, Diane Kruger or Eva Mendes – going crazy over the new model! It's perfect for all seasons and super chic for different occasions.

What's your favourite colour?

Best Dressed of the Weekend- A lesson in high & low
BDOTW23Apr
Best Dressed of the Weekend: A lesson in high & low
JustJared
It has been a great weekend for celebrity style both on and off the red carpet!
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley made an appearance at Coachella, for which I am so grateful! Her is the best look I have seen so far this year – until I see pictures of Leandra Medine, that is. I loved Rosie's unbuttoned tux shirt paired with the ultra luxe Christopher Kane SS12 shorts, a powder blue Mulberry bag and chic low boots.
Emma Watson, who had had quite a few misses lately went back to her old cool self in a super rock and roll Miu Miu outfit. The girly mixture of prints is just great and works so well with the leather blazer. There is even a bit of a peplum action going on there. I love!
I have been a fan of Charlize Theron's street style for ages. She can wear anything and make it look like style genius. Proof of that is her checked shirt and khaki trousers combo – how chic is it?!
Scarlett Johansson's style has never been my cup of tea apart from two or three spectacular Dolce moments. But I am loving this Prada look – the colours are elegant yet interesting for evening and the satin peplum does only good things for her like making her waist look tiny. Can we have some more of this?

I am still going on about how amazing the Miu Miu show was, don't you agree? Those prints are going to cover so many magazines in only a few months... Can't wait for a new Prada & Miu Miu fever.
The brand also had quite an amazing front row at yesterday's show in Paris. What I love the most about their 'FROWs' is that they're usually pretty unexpected.
This season Katy Perry was present at most Paris shows but, even though I loved what she was wearing I am not that keen on how she was wearing it. Luckily there were plenty of other girls looking incredible in this summer's collection. Kate Mara went for a burgundy two-piece and a maroon leather coat, all by Miu Miu. Florrie Arnold is Giulia's favourite, her Miu Miu pale pink printed pants and cropped fur jacket looked great together and the touch of the pink bag was super girly. Lastly, Léa Seydoux went for a more elegant look in one of my favourite Prada pieces – the navy cooked lace dress. It was ever so chic and simple but the Prada green and yellow 'car shoes' and clutch gave it a very fun edge.

The fashion week month clothes yesterday in Paris after four weeks filled with, I must say, some pretty strong collections. I haven't been able to post about all the interesting bits of my favourite ones so this is the perfect time to start sharing those with you –starting with the rest of my LFW highlights.

Miu Miu was among the very few lucky shows on schedule the last day and it's always one that doesn't disappoint. After Prada's strong collection of prints I didn't think I would like the Miu Miu line as much. I often tend to like one more than the other every season. But after looking at the FW12 offerings from Miu Miu I must say I am loving their prints. They have a more sophisticated and subtle feel to them and I really liked the sort of garçonne look with a sense of humour of the collection.

With all the coats, jumpers and boots we're currently seeing on the catwalks I thought it would be a breath of fresh air to devote this week's Shoe Porn Friday to the complete opposite.
Miu Miu is launching their 'Crystal Sandals' collection for SS12 inspired by marine creatures like the starfish, the sea horse or the crab. The sandals are made of leather soles with finishes of pink crystals, pyrite, amethyst and studs entirely hand-made!
They are the perfect touch to a pair of shorts and a plain t-shirt for your Capri get away. I can already see Beyoncé wearing these while pushing Blue Ivy in her pram this summer.

The sandals will be available at all Miu Miu stores and on MiuMiu.com from March 2012.

Prada and its younger sister Miu Miu really waste no time. For every fashion week or art fair there is a big an memorable event from either of the houses. This time Miu Miu held a party during New York fashion week to present their new short film from their "Woman's Tales" series – "The Woman Dress". You can watch the short film here and see more pictures from the event here.
Alongside the event the brand has also launched their new Culte Sunglasses collection. I love the soft geometric shape of the shades, which are made by one single piece of metal carefully bended, and I can easily see them becoming a new hit – their older sisters were all the rage – and Leighton Meester already loves them!
The sunglasses will be available at MiuMiu.com and on selected Miu Miu stores worldwide from the end of May.

Aren't you dying to get a pair?

Stephanie LaCava at NYFW: Get the look!
AllthePrettyBird.blogspot.com, Vogue.fr
I have to admit that during fashion week I spend just as much time (sometimes more) looking at street style pictures as I do the collections. It's just fascinating to see how people incorporate the previous season's collections into their wardrobes.
Stephanie LaCava is one of my favourites not only because she's such a sweet person but because her wardrobe choices are always so unexpected! SLC and I watched the SS12 Roksanda Ilincic show together in London last season and it was then that she fell in love with the bell sleeves. So I wasn't as surprised as I was pleased to see her in one of the amazing pieces from the collection. What I found super interesting is how she paired the top with a super short Miu Miu leather skirt from a few seasons back and a badass pair of Ann Demeulemeester boots. And that's exactly why I love her. There is an edge to everything she wears that we rarely see in anyone else but she manages to always look feminine.
Stephanie finished her look with a classic cream Chanel bag you might remember from my favourite picture of her taken in Paris by The Sartorialist a few years ago.

I'm sure many of you are among the 111.3 million people who watched the Superbowl on Sunday night, I know I am. I had never done it before and if I stay up for the Oscars every year why not try this?
I must admit I was curious to see what Madonna would do for the halftime show as it's such a big deal and it was her 'MDNA' debut. While I found the performance a little disappointing (was she even singing live?) I have to say the staging and the visuals were incredible. As was, of course, the fashion. Madonna wore Givenchy Couture, which she accessorised with a pair of custom made Miu Miu boots. Impressive, no?
My favourite of fashion, though, is the amazing red Antonio Berardi she wears on the cover of the new album. It's super sexy, strong and a tad futuristic, which seems to work great with the artwork of the cover. I am really loving all the celebrity Berardi looks we've got so far! I wonder if anyone will wear my favourite look from the SS12 collection!

Miu Miu SS12 Press Day- Cooked lace & sparkly tiaras
MiuMiupressday1
Miu Miu SS12 Press Day: Cooked lace & sparkly tiaras
KnowWear
On the same day that Giulia and I attended the Prada press day we also made at stop at Miu Miu to preview the SS12 collection. I have to say that normally I tend to like Miu Miu's collections a bit more than Prada's because they always have an interesting and playful point of view that I relate to. For SS12, though, it seems to be the other way around. And yet, it was hard not to find brilliant pieces in the collection.
Some of our favourites were the gingham stilettos to the right (which are actually Resort 2012), the Medieval velvet heels –for quirky people who can pull them off– and the incredible bejewelled tiaras and bracelets (you should have seen Giulia gasping for air).
The highlight of the collection in terms of clothes are definitely the lace pieces. It seems like Miuccia has used cooked lace this time, which gives the pieces a rigidity that makes dresses and tops acquire more interesting shapes than what we're used to.

Click below on read more to see the rest of our highlights from the collection.

Miu Miu Musings- “Women, their clothes, their liberty” in Moscow
miumiumusingsmoscow
Courtesy of Prada
Miu Miu describes their 'Musing' events as "friendly gatherings devoted to a reflection on the diverse meanings of fashion: fluid, informal moments of discussion". They offer "the opportunity to discuss the state of fashion by considering its meaning and implications; the aim is to define a mobile, ever-changing point of view, because fashion never stops. They are based on the same logic that informs Miuccia Prada's creative process: creating the new by reinterpreting and editing what's already existing in infinitely new ways. During the Musings fashion reveals itself in its complex simplicity of social tool and essential cultural element of the modern era. Fashion, in fact, crosses many worlds and creates, by synthesis, a new sensibility." Essentially, Miuccia Prada is even more of genius than we ever thought.
This edition of 'Musings', held last Friday at Moscow's Garage house, is the forth event, following two in New York and one in London and all hosted by Shala Monroque. André Leon Talley, Dasha Zhukova, Olya Thompson, Uliana Sergeenko joined Monroque in Moscow to discuss "Women, their clothes, their liberty". I just can't wait for a day when I am invited.
