Shoe Porn Friday- Roger Vivier and then some
RVss13
Shoe Porn Friday: Roger Vivier and then some
Courtesy of Roger Vivier
I know these Friday posts are meant to be only about a pair of shoes that we love but I simply couldn't resist... The Roger Vivier SS13 collection was presented in Paris on Monday and, as usual, there are almost as many show-stoppers as there are pieces in the collection.
My favourites continue to be from the Prismick line – they were created by Bruno Frisoni only two seasons ago but they already feel like RV staples. I was then in love with the yellow and white model that we recently saw Emma Stone rocking at NYFW. Now the brand has reinvedted them in different shades of pink in suede for the shoe and snakeskin for the bag. I am thinking Carey Mulligan at 'The Great Gatsby' premiere. Perfect, no?
For SS13 has also introduced a few new pieces. The smoking slippers, which come in quite a few different models (I love these sequinned ones!), and the Metro Square bag, that will join the ranks of the RV classics before long. Mark my words.

Shoe Porn Friday- Would you wear Prada’s SS13 shoes

Shoe Porn Friday: Would you wear Prada’s SS13 shoes?
Style.com
Every season Prada ends up being all everyone is talking about during Milan Fashion Week and, in the months to follow, they always manage to score an impressive amount of magazine covers. Personally, I think Prada is one of the few brands you can appreciate at first sight but Miuccia's work needs to be digested and thought-about. And, since I don't wear womenswear, I am always up for some well-needed excitement on the catwalk.
The SS13 Prada collection was shown last night in Milan and I have since then read and seen many things about both the clothes – some of the best of the last few years together with SS12 – and the accessories. Everyone is raving about the shoes, for better or worse. I am happy to see the brand break with the line they were going lately and yet these shoes are 100% Prada: the bows we saw in FW10, the flower embellishments in FW12. Miuccia's harajuku girls are going to be a hit!

You can watch the full SS13 Prada show here. And don't miss the brand's FW12 'Real Fantasies' video.

Shoe Porn Friday: Handcrafted lace espadrilles by Valentino
Since summer, if a somewhat sui generis one, has come back to London for a few days I thought today's Shoe Porn Friday had to be all about relax and chicness. Valentino's lace espadrilles are perfect for this mood. They look great with denim shorts and a fun top but they can also make super chic evening looks. They are a bit of a pricey indulgence but they're classic and when you see the work and care that goes into making them it really isn't that much.

Happy Friday!

You might have heard that Oz is back in fashion this season. Oz: The Great and Powerful – watch trailer here is set to hit cinema screens in March 2013 with an incredible cast including Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, James Franco and Michelle Williams. Now, there is no Dorothy here but I would bet Glinda, Michelle Williams character, wears glittery shoes under her white dress. And they are Miu Miu – duh.
The brand has released this month their glitter Mary Jane shoes for FW12. I am absolutely in love with the classic silver and black ones – the latter have a contrast sole in silver. But if you are not quite that bold you can also go for one of their patent leather models in fuchsia, nude and turquoise. They all come with a glittery sole and heel so you still have that surprise factor turning around. See the whole collection here.

Slippers are the shoe of the season. And of next season too. I have a feeling they will become a wardrobe staple right after that. Every single shop and quite a few designers have created they're different takes but my favourite ones are these Miu Miu ones.

As opposed to everyone who likes to wear them in black, I like the bold choice from Miu Miu and how the 'regal' embroidery becomes more of a play on texture. They're perfect for muted looks and would look great in any scenario you can think of.
They are part of the brand's FW12 collection and are available at all their stores and online at MiuMiu.com

Shoe Porn Friday- ‘A Queen Forever’, Part II
ShoePornFriday29June
Shoe Porn Friday: 'A Queen Forever', Part II
Courtesy of Roger Vivier
Two weeks ago I posted the sketch of the shoes Bruno Frisoni had created for Roger Vivier finding inspiration in the Queen's coronation shoes. Last Wednesday night Roger Vivier invited me to preview the final result at the Masterpiece Brilliant Exhibition, which opened yesterday and will run until July 4th.
It was impressive how such an opulent piece of an astronomical price could actually be so elegant and subtle. The 4000 diamonds that shape the fleur-de-lys motif are beautifully shaped like stars and circles as if descended from the heavens. As I was told, the idea behind the design was that as a tired queen rips her diamond necklace from her neck the diamonds fall onto her feet and stick to her shoes. Pretty royal.
If you have a chance, I recommend you stop by to check this and some of the other exquisite pieces at the exhibition.

Shoe Porn Friday- Summer Sales Edition
ShoePornFriday22June
Shoe Porn Friday: Summer Sale Edition
Net-a-Porter
The Summer sales started this week in most places but, most importantly, on Net-a-Porter. I've had everyone from close friends to acquaintances and readers asking, emailing and tweeting me about all the items they were going crazy about. Our very own Giulia, of course, was at the top of the list. So I asked her to choose the pair to feature today.
Her email back to me had a link to the pair of shoes on the right and it read "Alaiaaaaaaaaa foreverrrrr" so I went for them. They are indeed Alaïa and they're stunning. The sinuous lines, the colour combination and the studs are asking to be taken on holiday.

The discount is also pretty amazing if you have in mind they were over 1K! You can get them here.

Not a lot of people might know this because it's almost unimaginable for a monarch to wear anything not produced in their country but Elizabeth II actually wore Roger Vivier for her coronation in 1953 and a big par of the later years.
In celebration of the Diamond Jubilee, Bruno Frisoni, Creative Director of Roger Vivier, has created an original shoe inspired by the original Roger Vivier shoes designed for the Queen's coronation. The result is a shoe that might as well be taken to the Tower of London to be kept with the Crown Jewels. 'A Queen Forever' is totally hand-crafted and created in a collaboration with the East India company. Over 4000 cut diamonds are incrusted in an intricate setting shaped like the iconic fleur-de-lys that decorates the St Edward Crown and the Imperial State Crown worn by the Queen. All framed by black satin and jet feathers.
'A Queen Forever' will be showed to the public for the first time from June 28th until till July 4th for the occasion of the Masterpiece Brilliant Exhibition in London.

Shoe Porn Friday- Christian Louboutin’s “Bow Bow”
ShoePornFriday4May
Shoe Porn Friday: Christian Louboutin's "Bow Bow"
ChristianLouboutin.com
I have been crazy about these shoes ever since I saw them on Annabelle Dexter-Jones at the Chanel Artists Dinner. I love how girly and classic they are and how the PVC not only makes it look as if the bows were floating in the air but how it adds a contemporary note to the shoes.
The "Bow Bow" shoes are not the only pair that Christian Louboutin has created using this modern material. It looks like quite a few pieces of the line he created to commemorate his brand's 20th anniversary. We have also been seeing quite a lot of the "Un Bout 100" model, which Kim Kardashian loves. I am also a fan of the "Just Picks 100" – a more daring model.
They're all the perfect shoes to dress up a casual look for a relaxed dinner or to inject a Marie Antoinette vibe into a cocktail dress ensemble.

Do you love them?

I didn't even mention the Kids' Choice Awards earlier this week because there weren't any looks that particularly caught my attention. I thought any of the Best Dressed of the Weekend ladies did a much better job. However, there was a particular pair of shoes that I absolutely loved.
Selena Gomez turned up to the awards wearing a sexy Dolce & Gabbana number, which she accessorised with the most amazing pair of Cesare Paciotti heels! They gave the look a perfect summer touch but I feel like they would have shone more if worn with a more neutral and chic ensemble.
The shoes belong to the designer's SS12 collection and mix together fuchsia and bright orange – a colours combination I've been crazy about for ages and one that John Galliano would usually resort to in his SS collections.
I haven't been able to find the shoes on sale online but they look like a perfect investment for the new season. What do you think?

Shoe Porn Friday: Crime's Studded Sneakers
Crime-Fashion.com
It's funny how summer starts to feel really close and you start to completely change the way you dress every day just because you're in a much better, more chilled, mood. As I said last week, spring and summer to me are a time to feel comfortable, which sometimes can be incompatible with being fashionable.
Even Giulia, who will never give up on sky-high Miu Miu pumps, agrees with me. She loves wearing flat comfy shoes with shorts and fun tops during the warmer months. So we both went crazy over Crime, an up-and-coming brand that's already a big hit in Italy. They specialise in sneakers though they also carry a line of very rock'n'roll t-shirts. I love the worn-out effect of the leather and how it contrasts with the more stylish touch of the shinier studs. Picture them with a Missoni top and vintage Levi's shorts – such a hit!

Shoe Porn Friday: The Row for Superga

Spring is pretty much upon us (officially next Wednesday) and I have already brought my Supergas to my wardrobe's front line. There is something so simple yet so chic about these trainers that makes them the perfect choice.
After waiting for months since it was first announced the collaboration The Row has launched this week the line of sneakers in anticipation of the new season, I'm sure. There are linen and cashmere models in classic colours but my favourite is the grey cashmere because of its interesting texture.
You can check out the whole collection here. I am sure they're not going to last too long so hurry!

Shoe Porn Friday- Miu Miu Crystal Sandals

With all the coats, jumpers and boots we're currently seeing on the catwalks I thought it would be a breath of fresh air to devote this week's Shoe Porn Friday to the complete opposite.
Miu Miu is launching their 'Crystal Sandals' collection for SS12 inspired by marine creatures like the starfish, the sea horse or the crab. The sandals are made of leather soles with finishes of pink crystals, pyrite, amethyst and studs entirely hand-made!
They are the perfect touch to a pair of shorts and a plain t-shirt for your Capri get away. I can already see Beyoncé wearing these while pushing Blue Ivy in her pram this summer.

The sandals will be available at all Miu Miu stores and on MiuMiu.com from March 2012.

Shoe Porn Friday- Roger Vivier’s ‘Blue Angel’
ShoePornFridayFeb3
Shoe Porn Friday: Roger Vivier's 'Blue Angel'

I have know I was going to post about this shoe since the beginning of the week. Roger Vivier has released a limited edition collection of bags and accessories named 'Rendez Vous' (I love the play on the RV). Everything is so decadent, which is one of my favourite adjectives, and looks incredibly crafted. Bruno Frisoni, creative director of RV, has envisioned this line as a collection of classic pieces (with a twist) that can be passed through generations.
I have posted the rest of the pieces on our Facebook page – you can see them here. This week I could not cheat like I did last Friday so I actually chose only one model. Its name is 'Blue Angel'. What I love about it is that it feels almost like a sculpture. The way the feathers have been applied sticking out here and there is such a stunning touch. There is something royal about the shoe (Marie Antoinette would go bananas over it), like it has an attitude of its own.
The collection will be available for orders from June 2012.

Shoe Porn Friday- The whole Charlotte Olympia collection
ShoePornFridayCOPreFall12
Shoe Porn Friday: The whole Charlotte Olympia collection
ModaOperandi.com
I appreciate that it's sort of cheating to have more than a pair of shoes in this post. The fact is that Giulia and I spend all week sending each other shoes that we think would work. Or Giulia just sends me an email with 'Shoe Porn Friday' as subject, the picture of the shoe and a line that often only reads "I DIE". That's when I know it's the right shoe.
This week I got an email from Moda Operandi about the Charlotte Olympia's Pre-Fall 2012 collection and I automatically copied the link and emailed it to Giulia. This week the response was equally as enthusiastic but less precise: "Anastasia sandal or polly pumps!!!! Die for all!" And that's exactly the reason why I didn't choose one.
I must admit my obsession is with Charlotte Olympia's smoking slippers –can you stark making men's, please?– so I was happy to find this new model very appropriately named "Charlotte's Web". I love the fact that there's so much red in the collection. It's exactly the shade that goes with your winter wardrobe and it still adds that kick a dark outfit needs.
Click here to see the whole collection –you've got until February 1st to get yourself a pair!

Shoe Porn Friday- Put some Vionnet in your life
shoepornfriday5Jan
Shoe Porn Friday: Put some Vionnet in your life
Net-a-Porter.com
It's Friday again! This week Shoe Porn Friday has been Giulia's choice. She has gone for a pair of Vionnet sandals with a red leather heel, a black suede platform and peep toe front and a wavy detailing with red, white and black embroidery.
Giulia is very much into her super high heels, in which she walks impressively easily. These sandals are a perfect evening pair of shoes because you can totally get away with them on a winter night out (make sure you don't have to walk around in the cold too much) but you can also wear them with a short flowy dress in the summer. They're a classic but they add something interesting to your look, especially a LBD or something in a solid colour and a simple cut.
They're available at Net-a-Porter here as part of their new season items with, unfortunately, means they are not on sale but, hey, you have to spend whichever money Santa brought you some way, right? And what better way than investing on a pair of long-lasting shoes.

Shoe Porn Friday- New Year’s Eve Edition
ShoePornFriday30DecNYE
Shoe Porn Friday: New Year's Eve Edition
MatchesFashion.com
I don't know about you but I am still pretty old-school when it comes to evening wear. I can't for the life of me wear light colours or anything too bright when I go out at night. Yesterday I was talking to one of my dearest friends in Spain and she agreed with me. She's going for another black number this year –even though she killed it in red lace last year (you always make an exception for a Valentino vibe) she sticking to her guns, and I agree.
On today's Shoe Porn Friday I wanted to choose a classic shoe that would complement a black dress or an LBD but that would also keep it interesting. I eventually went for this dark electric blue pump. I have had my troubles wearing black and blue in the past but I've come to the conclusion that if you know exactly which shade of blue to wear nothing can be as chic. I love this Charlotte Olympia shoe, which funnily enough is called 'Paloma' like my sister, because the satin makes the shoe a bit more special and I love the ruffle detail at the heel.
What are you wearing this New Year's Eve?

Shoe Porn Friday- Sales Edition
shoepornfriday23dec
Shoe Porn Friday: Sales Edition
Net-a-Porter.com
I don't know about you but I am quite happy with all the bits and bobs I have found on the online sales this season. It hasn't been the greatest year for selling winter wear, which has translated in really good discounts. It's always a good chance to get some Christmas presents as well as the perfect time to find exactly what you needed to wear on New Year's Eve.
Having the holidays in mind I had a look at the amazing sale that Net-a-Porter has on shoes at the moment. I thought I would find the best pieces for a Shoe Porn Friday. And I did. I love these Giuseppe Zanotti suede ankle boots. They're super classic, which you know I like, but the chiffon ruffles at the front give them character and add glamour. I can easily see someone like Giulia (who would probably die over these) wearing them for one of many family Christmas dinners.
However, if these are not quite your cup of tea head over to Net-a-Porter, they still have quite a lot of other shoes, accessories and apparel with amazing discounts.

It's almost Christmas!

Shoe Porn Friday- Fendi’s Persuasion Sandal

Shoe Porn Friday: Fendi's Persuasion Sandal
ModaOperandi.com
If you have not joined Moda Operandi yet I don't know what you are waiting for! Áslaug Magnúsdóttir and Lauren Santo Domingo are following the steps of Burberry's digital revolution by selling next season's hottest fashion way before it hits the store. You only have a limited time to buy your favourite pieces but it's anyone's best chance of dressing like an editor.
This week I've picked my Shoe Porn Friday from Moda Operandi's selection because it's all about Fendi SS12! I don't know what it is about Fendi shoes. Maybe it's the sort of timeless heritage feel that everything they do has. Or maybe it's the fact that all the most stylish women in fashion (Giovanna Battaglia, Viviana Volpicella, hello?) wear it season after season. The fact is I love Fendi too.
My favourite is the Persuasion Sandal. I love its 20's feel (very on trend for next season) and the fact that it makes a statement without being loud. That's the beauty of Fendi.

Available at Moda Operandi until December 14th.

Shoe Porn Friday- Charlotte Olympia ‘holiday’ pick
shoepornfriday2dec11
Shoe Porn Friday: Charlotte Olympia 'holiday' pick
CharlotteOlympia.com
This week I decided to choose this particular pair of shoes because of a couple of different (if slightly random) reasons. The first one is that I see a lot of Charlotte Olympia shoes every day where I work, both being worn and on display. The second reason is that I loved how Alexa Chung wore the Kitty heels at the BFAs this week –where Charlotte Dellal won the 'Accessory Designer' award, that's the third reason. And the last reason is my current obsession with velvet shoes ever since recently purchasing my first pair of 'smoking' Church's slippers.
All of them put together pretty much make this shoe –the Tessa. I love the slipper feel of it but how it's also super sexy because of the super high wedge heel. I'm not a huge fan of red shoes but in this case the velvet makes the colour very interesting and a perfect shade to add a pop to Christmas looks. And I love the ankle strap that gives them a bit of a boudoir French air, non?
