Shoe Porn Friday- Put some Vionnet in your life

Shoe Porn Friday: Put some Vionnet in your life
Net-a-Porter.com
It's Friday again! This week Shoe Porn Friday has been Giulia's choice. She has gone for a pair of Vionnet sandals with a red leather heel, a black suede platform and peep toe front and a wavy detailing with red, white and black embroidery.
Giulia is very much into her super high heels, in which she walks impressively easily. These sandals are a perfect evening pair of shoes because you can totally get away with them on a winter night out (make sure you don't have to walk around in the cold too much) but you can also wear them with a short flowy dress in the summer. They're a classic but they add something interesting to your look, especially a LBD or something in a solid colour and a simple cut.
They're available at Net-a-Porter here as part of their new season items with, unfortunately, means they are not on sale but, hey, you have to spend whichever money Santa brought you some way, right? And what better way than investing on a pair of long-lasting shoes.

Giulia and I were talking the other day about how we had left accessories on the side lately, which is true. So I endeavoured her to find her favourite bags and shoes from the fall/winter 2011 collections from the Saks.com website. We decided to group them in three of the biggest accessory trends this season –70's, colour blocking and sparkle.

Going through the accessory section of the Saks' website is quite an experience. They have over two thousand shoes and over a thousand bags in stock! You can imagine how long it took us to go through both sections to pick our favourites. But it was sort of fun to see all the range that brands have for this season.
I wanted to start with the 70's because it's my personal favourite. I love the rich colour palette combined with the snakeskin and the suede. I love the colour block items to add a pop of colour during the winter when we all tend to wear so many dark colours. It just looks perfect to put a bright purple shoe with a black trouser! The spark is Giulia's favourite, she really likes her glitter! Miu Miu is obviously the master in that department and I must admit I am really into all these dark glitter that seems a perfectly glamourous choice for an evening look.

Navy is the new Black, in Summer anyway
navylace
1. Kate Middleton in Erdem, 2. Jess Stam in Vionnet on the new cover of Flare, 3 & 8. Erdem Resort 2012, 4. French Connection,
5. Top Shop, 6. New Look, 7. French Connection, 9. Prada @ Yoox
I already posted about Erdem's 2012 Cruise collection a couple of months ago. I was and I am still in awe of how beautifully simple it is. I particularly loved the navy (or ultramarine) lace, which seemed so chic to me.

Not long after the collection had come out, Kate Middleton picked a dress or two from this collection for her North American tour and she really look incredible in them.
And now it's Jessica Stam who a navy lace number by Vionnet for the September cover of Flare magazine.
I think it was the contrast of the blue next to the black font on the Flare cover that made me realise how much chicer and sexier than an LBD a navy dress can be in the summer.
And so, I decided to see the offerings of other designers and the high street in the navy lace department. None of the options are as exquisite and elegant as Erdem's, except maybe for the Prada jacket, but I think the New Look and French Connection options can make a really nice summer outfit if well accompanied and accessorised.

Gwyneth Paltrow is everywhere at the moment. Her film 'Country Song' started out the excitement of her as a singer and her Glee appearances together with her performance at the Grammys confirmed that she is a good singer. But not happy with that, Gwyneth is now promoting her new cook book 'My father's daughter'. Who said celebrities can't cook? In the craziness of it all she also manages to look incredibly chic in down-to-earth outfits like the Vionnet dress or the jeans and cashmere sweater (with a touch of Alaïa). I wonder what's next because it's going to be good!
Everyone's also excited about Coachella festival, which started a few days ago. I admit I'm jealous of anyone there because the weather looks lush and the line-up for the festival was right up my alley. Kate Bosworth is always my favourite Coachella style choice. After a bland first-day look she put herself together and proved she can look great if she wants to. I was also impressed by Dita Von Teese, who translated her pin-up aesthetic perfectly for the event.

Best dressed of the weekend

I might or might not make of 'Best dressed of the weekend' a weekly feature on soVIPzone but the fact is that I find celebrities to be better dressed on weekends. Perhaps it's because they let the most personal part of their style breathe through when they are relaxed. This weekend we saw a rather demure (yes, you read correctly) Gaga wearing a Sally LaPointe SS11 dress, which seemed perfect for a woman's wedding day as long as she's actually attending her husband's-to-be funeral. I did, however, really liked the outfit and how the silhouette works great with Gaga. Her hair is also looking phenomenal at the moment. Let's hope she stays like that for another two or three days. Jessica Alba (on whom I've been fixating my eyes a lot lately) made it evident that she doesn't need any designer cocktail dresses and hours of hair and make-up to look incredible. This weekend she slipped into a grandpa cardi, which she wore with leggings and battered brown leather boots. I particularly liked the choice of earrings (despite my odd feelings towards hoops) and of sunglasses. I do believe a big Proenza PS1 would've finished the look quite well, no?

Lastly, we have Natalie Portman. I am still hurt that she never called to inform me of her engagement and bun in the oven before I found out online. But that's another story. She attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival wearing a unknown-so-far Vionnet SS11 sort of chemise dress with golden cuffs and neck. Personally, I found the choice not only exquisite on her but also quite apt for the occasion as it looked like what a (tasteful) ice skater or ballet dancer would wear. I am still hoping for THE Rodarte dress... Maybe for her wedding?
I'm off.
