I used to be a big Dsquared2 fan some 6 years ago. For some reason I grew tired of it and their collections really bored me. They made me change my mind about them with their FW09 collection, which did a really quirky take on celebrity street style. Ever since then I have really liked them again. For FW11 they took on the Far West. As I went through the pictures I couldn't but think of True Grit, which has been so talked about both for the stellar performances of Jeff Bridges and Heilee Steinfeld and for the latter's red carpet style. I absolutely love how Dean and Dan always manage to include jeans into any look regardless of its time of origin. I loved their interpretation of this look with the exaggerated hats and long coats. Maybe they should collaborate with the Coen brothers next time for a Black Swan/Rodarte kind of thing.

Collage Sunday, 14.11.10

Red is one of those colours that never really goes out of fashion. However, for FW10 is is very much in. Everyone from the big French houses like Chanel and Givenchy to the fashion-forward rebels the likes of Ann Demeulemeester and Margiela to younger designers like Kamola and Dsquared2 have made red one of the strong points of their winter collections, be it on full looks or as dashes of colours. Even Vogue Italia gave a red Giorgio Armani the cover of their latest issue. If, like me, you are also a Christmas fanatic you'll find that red is not only the chicest way to a bright winter ensemble but also the merriest way to get into the the season's spirit. —Happy Sunday!

the cherry on top

Milan Fashion Week wrapped up yesterday after four days of non-stop hit collections. I was in awe of the usuals (Zegna, Jil Sander, Burberry) but what made things even better was the fact that Domenico and Stefano at Dolce & Gabbana and D&G really showed why they became so popular in the first place. Going away from the usual Italian stereotypes of gold sneakers and stuffed shirts and ripped jeans, the Italian duo keeps finding inspiration in the country's traditional clothing and putting it through their funnel to bring their clothes to the present. For the D&G line, which I haven't liked since I was 16, they gave us a picnic orgy of gingham and espadrilles. They created mono-colour outfits that played with patterns, prints and texture. Everything was extremely wearable, fresh and, yes, desirable.

Dean and Dan at Dsquared2 were my second surprise of the week. I normally find their collections really fun and clever but too stuck into their own cliched Italian-ness. For SS11, however, their found inspiration in the classic 'American Gigolo'. Personally, I think they couldn't have chosen a theme that suited them better. The 80's vibe works amazingly with the really modern colours of the tucked-in t-shirts and tight straight-legged jeans. Their collection also had that kind of cocky attitude they always add to their clothes but this time it was a cool kind of cockiness when men slick their hair back and leave undone a few buttons on their shirts for the walk of shame they will enjoy.

And now we're on to Paris. It's only getting better. Which was your favourite collection from MFW?

Milan highlights

Whether is was entirely due to Anna Wintour's preferences or not, Milan fashion week occurred way too fast. We almost didn't have enough time to savour every collection the way they deserved. As it happened in London, the Italians proved that they know the direction they're going and that they haven't lost that savoire faire that first made them so popular. For the first time, I have organised the collections in order of my liking (excluding, of course, Marni and No. 21 which deserved special mention). Dolce & Gabbana pleasantly surprised me this season rooting back to their great basics and putting special emphasis in power dressing. Gucci, who in past seasons seemed unfocused, came back better than ever with an ode to Tom Ford times. While Donatella is still trying to find something that deserves having his brother's name on the tag, Christopher Kane's intervention at Versus succeeded in bringing the brand back into fashion from obsoleteness. —What's your favourite?

kuD2 to Britney

I am finally back after my intense and hectic week at Luella. I have to say that as utterly knackered as I was by the end of the week, everything I learnt made every single second worth it. I can honestly say it has been one of the best experiences of my life so far. One I hope to repeat soon enough.

Now I am back to my uni work, a less glamourous task. But I am also back to soVIPzone. Today I would like to dedicate this post to the comeback of the decade. Britney has done it, yet again. They might want to talk about her lip synching or whichever other crap from her opening show last night in New Orleans, but she still nows how to make a hell of a performance. Plus, all her wardrobe and her dancers' has been designed by Dean and Dan Caten. Who said that Brit could not be fashionable?

IRON woman

I am currently suffering from a pleasant fever, it's called the Gwyneth fever. I am loving everything about her lately; her über-cute american accent when she speaks Spanish, her short hair, her endless legs, that smile... I guess everything was self-explanatory. Ever since she decided to get rid of half of her golden locks she has been dazzling me with every in and out of the red carpet spotting.

It all started right before she paid her visit to the hair salon, with YSL grey dress that I adore. To the right, the current Paltrow in white Stella McCartney, rocking sheer, blazer and booties!

I can't spot this shade of pink without remembering Rachel Bilson in Chanel. However, I think Gwyneth looks lovely in this, I love the hair and accessories. To the side, a printed wrap dress I first thought ugly and now intriguing; she makes it look rock-chic.

Two of her last picks I found very interesting. That short Sonia Rykiel dress with the face in it would have probably been the last thing I chose, but she pulls it off, looking chic with a bit of an edge. I'm sure her other dress, to the right, made you think of Marion Cotillard's Gaultier at the Oscars, only white; well, Jean Paul designed this one too. She looks amazing in it, although I could totally see Cate Blanchett kicking some butt in it!

She is the boss when it comes to black. The Preen dress (LBD?) looks fa-bu-lo-us on her and those ultra-high Dsquared2 are so damn sexy! To the right, another cute black dress with a black (Burberry?) coat and A-MAZING ankle boots!

Last, my favourtie look so far, a casual one. Her Stella McCartney blazer (rolled up sleeves, yay!), plain white tee, skinny blue jeans and flat black boots. Perfection, here she comes!
