when you're not Carine

One thing Giulia and I noticed when we went to the New Look SS10 preview back in December —and what makes their SS10 collection great— is how they have extracted the essence of the main trends of the season and transferred them onto high street clothing versions. Here are some of our favourites that will be hitting the stores soon. What do you think?

she-bag

Some are old and some new. Some a sigh and some a snort. But they all took their name from someone special to their creators. The Birkin and the Kelly are veterans and the ladies they took their names from marked a style in their era. The Ricky (Ralph Lauren's wife) and the Gisele (Bündchen) have been in the market for a few years already and they keep getting facelifts trying to find their place in fashion history. And the Hayden (Panettiere) and the Alexa (Chung) are the latest additions to the club —to me the first doesn't stand a chance and the second is stunning. Which one is your favourite?

now and then

Just like I did with the celebrity style moments of the decade, I have looked back at the last ten years to remember what some fashion houses were like then and how they're now. Since I couldn't possibly pick every single designer and brand I selected soVIPzone's favourites and the industry's loved children —added Thakoon to the cocktail just in case Anna stops by. I also included my all-time favourite Balenciaga collections and Luella's greatest hit as well as their last collection that never went into production. I believe I have covered the essentials (Valentino during and post Garavani himself), the birth of Rodarte and YSL's change of hands from Tom to Stefano.

gird your loins

It is that time of the year again. A nice light scarf and a blazer are not enough anymore. Instead, big ol' coats are in order. These are soVIPzone's recommendations for this winter -fashionable classics to invest in. Pay special attention to the camel coat, this season's must.

round LFW

I am not going to have time to update much around here until after Sunday. I am currently doing some intern work at Luella during London Fashion Week and I have anything but spare time. However, I can find a moment to share with all of you one of the top moments of today. I was working at the Luella fashion show this morning and, apart from being mesmerized by Tim Blanks, Kate Lanphear, Scott Schuman, Suzy Menkes and so on, I took a picture with the man of the moment. Fair enough, he is too aware of the fact that he is cool but even so I would like to think I now share some of that coolness. Behold.

PS. He said my shoes were cool. OM*G!
