EA7 Emporio Armani Garden Live: Summer of Sport

It's going to be such a big and exciting summer for Armani – they're dressing the whole Italian olympic team and EA7 is exclusively dressing the Italian rugby team! So last night Roberta Armani hosted 'Emporio Armani Summer Garden Live' at their EA store in New Bond Street. The space looked great – all the clothes had been removed and the walls covered with a selection of photography taken from the book 'Faces of Sport' by Giorgio Armani. The back of the store opened up to a little garden where Armani had set up a stage for the occasion where Friendly Fires, Kyla la Grange and Delilah performed followed by a DJ set by Rizzle Kicks. It was, by far, one of the most fun brand events I've ever been to. Super stylish but completely relaxed.
The guest list was also top notch – Freddie Fox, Amber Le Bon, Douglas Booth, Tolula Adeyemi, Ben Grimes, Jamie Campbell Bower, Tamzin Merchant, Delilah, Max Brown, Greg James. I was in absolute awe of Roberta Armani, who looked even more beautiful in person.  Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones) and Holliday Grainger (The Borgias) were also there looking amazing. So I spent my evening in the best company, sipping Peroni and dancing around.

Last night Burberry co-hosted the Serpentine Summer Party and brought out the coolest faces in town. If you had a look at the actual full list of the event you would be amazed of the number of models, singers, actors, artists and other celebrities that attended the annual event at Hyde Park.

Burberry also provided the entertainment with live performances by One Night Only, Life in Film, The Crookes and Misty Miller from their 'Burberry Acoustic' initiative. I loved the white box that served as stage. It almost seemed like a massive TV in the middle of the park.

Some of my favourite faces like Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Lily Donaldson rocked some sheer Burberry at the event. Julia looking rock'n'roll as usual and Lily with her sweet and sexy style. I also loved Cara Delevigne in her boho outfit and tough boots and Jourdan Dunn (who is probably the only girl in the world who can look that good in brown) in a silk gown.

Jade Williams is not normally on my radar but I am going to keep an eye on her after this. She also looked fabulous in Burberry. The cut of the dress really suits her, the platform shoes keep it interesting and contemporary and the bag really pops out. Great look!

Giambattista's boutique opening

I still remember how Giulia jumped up and down (literally but in a classy way) when she first heard Giambattista Valli was opening his first store ever in Paris at the beginning of the year. She loves his clothes to the point of madness. And so does the rest of the world. He has an exquisite eye to create modern shapes reminiscent of the golden eras of fashion to make a woman feel and look beautiful. Even even more so if the woman is already stunning as it is. That's the case of Diane Kruger (not in Chanel, for once), Lapo Elkann's ex (who he didn't deserve anyway) Bianca Brandolini and Industrie's über-chic Editor-at-Large Elizabeth von Guttman. They all went out to celebrate the store opening at the Rue Royale, which coincided with the designer's collaboration line with Longchamp sold exclusively at the new boutique.

In case you don't remember (I doubt you don't) here is the SS11 collection. Not Giulia's or my favourite because he tried to do the same kind of minimalistic thing everyone was doing. But it improves about halfway through when the leopard comes into scene. (Sorry about the quality, couldn't find the full show better).

quatre-vingt-dix

When I first heard that Vogue Paris was throwing a masquerade ball to celebrate their 90th anniversary I simply thought of a chic party with the best crowd in a decadently glamourous venue and the odd mask. What I didn't know was that it would take place during Paris Fashion Week and that most of its guests would take the theme seriously. Following the inspiration from the magazine's October issue, many models and editors showed up in lace masks paired up with sexy dresses with hints of baroque. Everybody was there and the Vogue Paris team tweeted themselves silly. Tweets like "Emmanuelle Alt et Peter Dundas dansent joue contre joue sur la piste de danse"* or "Emmanuelle Alt danse avec Anja Rubik sur la piste"** made it sound like the party of the century. Or, at least, my party of the century. But nothing, not Carine as a leopard or Julia as a vamp or Olivier Lalanne, were a match for Anna dello Russo. The queen and muse of all things fashion did what she does best: dress up. She wore a custom Pucci white dress (kudos to Peter Dundas) that she accompanied with a long white wig and mask in the same colour. The final touch was an incredible Trojan inspired feathered head piece by Gareth Pugh. Talk about decadent.

Met Gala 2010: The afterparty

As you know, I am addicted to the parties section of Stye.com, so I panicked when I didn't find any pictures of the Met Gala afterparty there. Luckily, I remembered that there is life outside Style.com and found them on the WWD website. And these are no ordinary party pictures, they are all full of First of all, Blake Lively stripped down to a t-shirt (presumably Alex Wang, haha) and a pair of converse! Completely genius, and sexy. Changing for a party isn't actually unprecedented but it kind of is to me since I have never seen graphic evidence before. Then, Matthew Morrison from Glee dancing with Natasha Poly, which was simply genius if you ask me. Although nothing wins over the picture of Sienna in jeans and a tank top looking (allegedly) hammered and Jude's face of love-meets-drunkard-sympathy.

swap?

If you had told me any day before today that I would be choosing Victoria Beckham's style over Kate Moss' I would have kicked you in the nuts (or mistreated you verbally if you were a girl) and walked away. But such is the day. The truth is that V looks much more dazzling in her own design that K does with those hoops (towel hangers, anyone?) dangling from her hips. Thoughts?

ramshackle catch-up

In the last two weeks I have been to Barcelona and back, spilled a ridiculous amount of water on my laptop, been laptop-less for a week, read two whole books, got back my laptop and got a job for Luella at London Fashion Week.

During the full one-day lock-in due to snow, this is one of the things I managed to do. Me and one of my mates created this unordinary snowman and tried to hit the other snowmen down in the garden resulting in purple hands.

Well, maybe picture perfect is a bit too much considering Scarlett's hair. Overlooking that fact, the picture is quite fashionably spot-on. There is colours and there is black, long and short, hidden and displayed shoulders, even a tuxedo. But even though they all looked pretty much flawless nothing could outshine the Balmain. The green and the little bit of shiny simply synchronized perfectly with Jennifer Connelly's emerald eyes and onyx hair.

Katie, Katie, Katie. Not only she bloomed into one of my favourite and most fashionable celebrities of the last few years but she cannot seem to get it wrong. Whether it is red carpet soirées or family trips to the beach she knows exactly what to wear and how to pull it off. As of late, she seems quite keen on adding a certain retro look —30's, 50's, 60's.

And now, to bring this randomness salad to an end, a few looks from the Style.com parties section. Red seems to be in wherever I look. I love the Lacoste jumper and I wish I could get my hands on the suit. But of course no one can win to Mr. Pilati, specially is he is wearing black.

a GLASSY event

After my interview with Gok I returned to my weekly duties as an LCF student. But I was excited as ever to go home, change, and run back to the hotel to attend the event. I was lucky enough to find a gorgeous last-minute date and off we went. Over an hour late. The Spectacle Wearer of the Year show was about to start so we dashed to the other side of the room passing PRs, camera men and assistants. From our places a couple of rows from the catwalk we saw the pretty hot and the rather blah walk the runway with their glasses trying to impress the judges. Once finalised the show, the auction started. Gok Wan stepped onto the stage and announced he would be auctioning himself in the first place. Most people would blush in that situation, how do I try and sell myself? Not Gok. At the shout of "C'mon you fuckers!" the audience did not complain, but raise their hands and shout back "Three thousand!". Auctioned as well were Mr. Christopher Biggins (plus dinner date at the Ivy) and Penny Lancaster-Stewart (yes, stunning legs included), which got a total of ten thousand pounds - organisation no wonder I would have given twenty if I could.

The auction finished with a good figure of money for the anti-bullying that takes care of kids all over the UK and everyone proceeded to move out to the lobby for drinks. My friend and I sat down in one of the sides trying to keep it cool, spotting  all our targets for the night. After a quick visit to the loo we caught Simon Webbe hanging out with a girl by the entrance door, so we approached. The guy was cool, quite underdressed. I took a photo with him and him and my friend exchanged a few words about how beautiful Duncan is. We moved on. Now we wanted Gok, but he was a prey hard to catch. Finally, after a few good moves here and there, we got to him. He nods to confirm he remembers me from that morning and takes a picture with my date. We keep on working the room. A circle of women are dancing crazily by the DJ table and a Cleo Roccas in red and thousands of pounds in diamonds on her ears, neck and wrists is amongst them. I smoothly put my palm on her shoulder and she turns around and gives us a the biggest scarlet smile with a hint of wicked. And, surprise surprise, she takes an interest in us. We dance with her and tell her with LCF students, a future stylist and fashion journalist. Now we get compliments on out outfits. Jackpot. The night is now coming to a close and everyone slowly drifts away. We catch Penny Lancaster as she is about to leave and she agrees to have a picture with each of us; a very quiet, classy lady. There is barely nobody left inside and we are by the door, Gok is tossing out his cigarette and going to bed. We catch him once more and say our good byes. What a night!

well-styled PARTIES

It is always such an amusement going through Style.com's People & Parties section. I quite often forget about it, which means there's enough pictures to fill a boring afternoon when I remember to visit again. Yesterday's afternoon was one of the sort.

Despite the various photos I found it difficult to find outfits that made me stop and stare for a while, and the occasional WHOA! was even rarer. However, I did find some interesting outfitting including some particularly brilliant men ensembles and even a couple of whoa!'s.

I am really happy that more and more people are becoming fonder of Agyness; I have even visited some blogs in which she is called the next Kate Moss, and those are some words no fashionista ought to speak in vain. It is Ms. Deyn who heads this party list, appearing twice and delighting us with a WOAH! I thought the manner in which she mixed some of the trends of the season is impressing to say the least. Bright blue, florals, blazer and a manly look on her equal chic crazy Brit.

My other WHOA! is courtesy of Miss Sarah Jessica Parker, whom I have never been a fan of yet she is on the way of changing my mind as of late. That Jil Sander cropped blazer is the top of tops and is that Balenciaga I see underneath? Hats off to SJP. Right next to her is Ellen Page, who gets it right and wrong evenly like the beginner she is. That Bottega Veneta fits her quite well in my opinion, although I would have probably told her to lose the jacket. But what else can I say? She's as cute as a button.

The best for me was, nonetheless, coming across some very stylish guys giving a lesson of how looking genuine and elegant can be achieved via simplicity. First to the right is Chris Benz, who I admire for his work but also for this kind of occasions. An ol' classic grey suit is brought up to date by means of genious accessorizing: filthy white converse, a striped scarf and an amazing orange leather belt, which is definitely the piece. Next is Alexander Terekhov, teaching us what an appropriate choice black is when it comes to chic night events. Last is Sam Shipley, who again proves how important accessorizing is for guys too. I don't usually like brown leather with black suits but taken he included a beautiful checked scarf and an unconventional yet fascinating coat, I'll forgive him.
