Cara Delevingne is the face of the new Burberry Body Tender fragrance
CaraBurbs1

After launching Burberry Body in September of 2011 now Burberry announces the release of their latest fragrance – Burberry Body Tender. Cara Delevingne has been unveiled as the face of the new fragrance, which should come as no surprise as she's not only the model of the moment but also because she's been such a great Burberry ambassador over the last few years.
Cara already appeared in the SS12 campaign alongside Eddie Redmayne and has worn the brand to numerous public events, especially to huge ones such as the Met Ball last year or the British Fashion Awards in late 2012.
According to the brand "Burberry Body Tender combines the relaxed, playful attitude of the Burberry girl with the energy of the brand’s London hometown. Understated and feminine, the British scent is a light spirited expression of the iconic Burberry Body fragrance. Sparkling scent brings together a fresh surge of lemon, dewy English rose and white jasmine against a warm, effortlessly feminine soft base".
The campaign, which includes a beautiful video shot also on the river Thames, was shot by Mario Testino, to whom Christopher Bailey is always faithful because he captures the essence of Burberry so well. The video commercial is accompanied by Misty Miller's cover of 'Happy Together', which you will remember because it opened the latest Burberry FW13 show in London. It's available to download from iTunes here and you can listen to it anytime on Spotify here.

Keira Knightley covers the latest American Vogue

Keira Knightley covers the latest American Vogue
Vogue.com
A preview of Keira Knightley's latest American Vogue cover came out a few days so I had enough time to make up my mind about it. And I love it!
Styled by Grace Coddington in  mostly couture and shot by Mario Testino, Keira looks amazing in her Chanel lace dress and cuffed silver gloves (very Karl!). The magazine is back to their close crops for cover images but this one really works. It's the mix of the luxurious look and the more casual pose that really make it great.
The story inside, which I hope is longer than what we can see online, is as beautiful as it is simple as most of the shots are just in a studio. It's about the couture pieces on Kiera, who is probably one of the best celebrities in the world to rock any of them.

Kristen Stewart covers the latest Vogue UK in Gucci

Kristen Stewart covers the latest Vogue UK in Gucci
Celebrity-Gossip
You know I have been having mixed feelings about the Vogue UK covers of the last few months. The October cover is definitely an improvement from the horror of September. Kristen Stewart, shot by Mario Testino, covers the latest issue dressed in Gucci. I always love K Stew because I think she's got quite a unique look but sometimes I feel like fashion stylists just don't get her. While I do like the cover look, the eye makeup is totally wrong for Kristen. It makes her look drowsy. The editorial inside goes totally in the wrong direction with an 80's styling that makes no sense for the actress. It is really a shame because there are so many bad-ass shoots you could do with Kristen and everyone just keeps trying to dress her up for no reason.

Joan Smalls by Mario Testino for Mercedes-Benz
If buying a Mercedez-Benz car wasn't already tempting enough for for who can now the luxury brand has teamed up with Mario Testino to shoot their latest commercial. Joan Smalls – sporting a fierce mohawk and leather catsuit – stars in the ad for the new CLS Shooting Break.
This new commercial is the latest in a series of fashion-forward campaigns for Mercedes changing, like fashion, every season. Some of the previous projects include Julia Stegner by Nick Knight, Milla Jovovich Miles Aldridge, Karolina Kurkova by Craig McDean and David James, Lara Stone by Alex Prager, and last season's Jessica Stam by Terry Richardson Terry Richardson.

Emma Stone covers the latest American Vogue

So it turns out we really didn't have to wait until tomorrow to see Emma Stone's American Vogue cover in HQ.
I have either been dissing or ignoring the American Bible for the most part of this year because it really plays it safe sometimes. It is a shame because it used to be one of my favourite magazines. And it ¡'s exactly issues like this – July 2012 – that remind me why.
Mario Testino shot an absolutely Stunning Emma Stone for the latest issue. The background is soft and looks great against the sexy Nina Ricci ensemble on Stone. This semi see-through black lace is not often seen at the front of American Vogue... and I love it! Emma's face is flawless, of course. I really like how they've brought our her eyes between the background colour and the eye makeup.
The editorial inside is also quite interesting. There's a quirky theme going on that makes me think of stories from Vogue Italia. Anna is really going European on this issue. My favourites are her in Prada, in a lovely Versus number, and two super sexy looks – one by Givenchy and the other by Jil Sander.

Burberry unveils their FW12 Campaign!

Burberry unveils their FW12 Campaign!

Today Burberry released their latest ad campaign for the FW12 collection featuring actress Gabrielle Wilde and musicians Roo Panes. Their names might not ring a bell straight away just yet but their faces will. They both rocked Burberry ensembles at the latest edition of the Met Ball in New York.
The feel of the campaign, shot by Mario Testino under the creative direction of Christopher Bailey, is so different from what we've seen before I am in love with the mysteriously romantic air of the photos. I love the cinematic feel and how you can see that there is a story behind each still yet you're not sure what it is.
And, of course, this aesthetic fits right in with the FW12 collection, which brought together traditional British elements bringing them to the 21st century.
For the first time ever Burberry.com will offer a "click-to-buy" on the campaign – all the pieces on the ads will be available to buy online from June 1. From June 6th the campaign pieces will also be available in Burberry stores globally!

Glamour Spain recycles the Lana del Rey cover
GlamourSpainJune12
Glamour Spain recycles the Lana del rey cover
TFS, Courtesy of Glamour
You know how fascinated I am with magazines recycling previously published covers and editorials. This time Glamour Spain has reused the Lana del Rey cover from Vogue UK's March issue. It's funny because they've barely even touched the image – only cropped it one or two centimetres. They have also kept the colour scheme Vogue used, although they added some yellow that looks quite tacky.
The story inside is almost identical to the original one, if shorter. I am quite disappointed because when magazines do this 'recycling' I expect them to add a different twist like Vogue Korea or Vogue India have done in the past. Why just reuse it if you're not trying out something new or interesting?

How do you feel about 'editorial recycling'? Do you like Glamour Spain's cover?

Are these May covers the most boring of the year
VogueUSParisMay12
Are these covers the most boring of the year?
I am not a very hard person to get excited about new magazine covers. Even American Vogue, which I might not always agree with on cover choices, always surprises me a bit. Vogue Paris has always been my favourite and I seem to always understand with what they do on their covers.
However, the May issues of both magazines have been released this week and I can't say I'm impressed. I don't know whether to blame Mario Testino, who shot both covers, or whether it's May's fault. No one ever seems to do anything special on the May issue because the actual summer wear is in the June issue. And then we have July and August, which come as one issue in a lot of cases and they start introducing FW – with the famous "La rentrée" issue.
In any case, I am so bored by both covers – Vogue Paris' cover with Laetitia Casta is pretty and, I suppose, chic but there is no vibe, not even interesting styling. And the same goes for Scarlett Johansson on the cover of American Vogue. Once you manage to find Scarlett's face amongst the heaps of copy it is really disappointing – she looks very dated/vintage. I understand that the 1950's are in fashion but couldn't they do it in a contemporary way?

Lana del Rey covers the new British Vogue!

Lana del Rey covers the new British Vogue!
TFS
British Vogue has finally done it!! They have not only delivered a brilliant new cover but they have also managed to be ahead of American Vogue for once. And they have Lana del Rey to thank for it. Lana, shot by Mario Testino, covers the March issue of the magazine in a yellow Louis Vuitton number from the SS12 collection. The magazine has now featured the main two spring collections so it'll be interesting to see what's on the April cover.
The timing of the issue is, of course, perfect as Lana's album has been released this week after months of buzz about it. I haven't had a chance to listen to it in full but its reviews are really good! There has also been a lot of talk about where she comes from and what she did before but, honestly, I couldn't care less. If no one cared about Lady Gaga's why should we care about Lana's past? She is stunning and there is something so intriguing about her eyes. I love everything about her and I hope to be seeing great moments of her on the red carpet. After all, she started off quite well –you might remember her Prabal Gurung moment a few weeks ago or her super chic Antonio Berardi look in her 'Born to Die' video.

Today Burberry has released the first images from their SS12 campaign shot by Mario Testino, which is exciting because it means we're getting closer to getting our hands on the clothes. This has been one of my favourite Burberry collections so far and I am excited to see Eddie Redmayne and Cara Delevingne as the faces of it. I have been a fan of Eddie for a really long time. He always chooses interesting film roles like his latest one in 'My Week with Marylin' and the upcoming film production of 'Les Miserables'. It's also great to see his style evolution (see here one of his best last looks) since he was one of the faces of the Burberry Prorsum SS08 campaign. Cara, who totally stole the show opening the SS12 catwalk in London, is currently working on a film production of 'Anna Karenina', which is super exciting and hopefully an excuse to see her wearing lots on Burberry on the red carpet.

Florence Welch covers the January issue of Vogue UK
VogueUKjan11
Florence Welch covers the January issue of Vogue UK
TFS
Yesterday, when I opened the envelope carrying the January issue of Vogue my first reaction was good. I love the fact that Alexandra Shulman finally put Florence Welch on the cover of British Vogue. It also makes me very happy that the cover text has been reduced a little and that they've changed the fonts, it feels more neat and more expensive –more Vogue. The colours are also excellent. the greenish greyish blue works fantastically with the sort of brass gold and white fonts. So far so good.
The only problem, a big one, is with the cover picture itself. First of all, Shulman needs to realise there are more photographers out there other than Mario Testino, it's like she's got the Anna Wintour virus! But even that wouldn't bother me that much if it weren't for the ridiculous photoshopping going on poor Florence's face! Her skin is so airbrushed it's almost like it doesn't fit in her frame. And the pose doesn't really help.
Despite this flaw I will say that there is some hint at an aesthetic change happening at Vogue UK, which makes me happy. Hopefully this is only the start of a whole new array of 2012 covers.

‘Burberry Body’ launches today!
BurberryBodypremiere
Courtesy of Burberry
After weeks of much anticipation and an extensive digital campaign Burberry finally launches today 'Burberry Body'. The TV campaign, just as the print ads, was shot by Mario Testino under the direction of Christopher Bailey. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the protagonist of all of this and she looks absolutely stunning.

Whether you requested your sample via facebook or not now you can actually head down to your shop to buy a bottle of 'Burberry Body' –I love the fact that the design had that air ox exclusivity, like you don't want to waste a drop. And I must say I am quite curious to smell it myself.

But as well as the campaign Burberry is launching Burberry Nude –the first ever ready-to-wear collection to accompany a fragrance. The pieces are, of course, Burberry staples. Cara Delevigne, another brand favourite, models the amazing trench coats. I can't decide whether I love more the lace one you could wear as a dress or the fur one, which looks so soft I just want to hug Cara.

Are you dying to try Burberry Body?

Charlotte Casiraghi covers Vogue Paris’ September Issue
VogueParisSept11
Models.com
As I was buying some magazines at Madrid airport this afternoon I realised I had most likely missed the release of all the important September issue covers, which is pretty bad timing. After an unexpected but not unwelcome Internet-less week in Cape Verde I have lots to catch up with.

Before tomorrow's round-up of my favourites I thought September's Vogue Paris deserved special mention. Charlotte Casiraghi shot by Mario Testino covers the issue with messy hair and a smoky eye. I really love this because it was pretty unexpected. Vogue Paris is one of the few really big publications that still uses models on its cover for the most part of the year. Which is why some people have criticised the choice. But I disagree, évidemment. If there was ever a time for something different that is September. Not to mention this is Emmanuelle's first and she had to make an impact.
The editorial inside is extensive to say the least. Charlotte wears in her famous effortless way over a dozen pieces from the FW11 collections. I also loved the fact that she was shot in a number of locations, it must have taken forever to shoot.

Emma Watson & SJP wear Bottega’s rags
EmmaSJPbottega
JustJared, Vogue.com
I remember seeing Bottega Veneta's gowns at the end of their f/w11 show and thinking not a soul would wear them.
Emma Watson was the first to prove me wrong a few days ago at the New York premiere of the last Happy Potter instalment. From the waist up it was a stunning look. The hair was stunning, the earrings a brilliant choice, and I even liked the bold makeup. The bodice fitted her beautifully but as you look down this gold/bronze taffeta starts to spoil the look.
The idea of rags sewn together to create something beautiful with an unfinished touch is great but I don't think it works on the red carpet. The dress does work in editorials, though. Sarah Jessica Parker wears it in her American Vogue cover story shot by Mario Testino. It might be that the angle and the composition  cover some of the dress' flaws but it does look stunning in the cream living room. Even the colour seems different than on Emma's and it has a nicer shape as it falls onto the floor. Some pieces are just meant to be on the pages of a magazine.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley- the face of the new ‘Burberry Body’
Today Burberry launched their new fragrance 'Burberry body'. It is no surprise that they've chosen Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a Burberry regular who's recently been a lot in the spotlight for her red carpet style (see here) to be its image.
I love the fact that she's wearing nothing but a rose gold satin trench coat. It's a very sensual image but it's done in such an elegant way!
The bottle design and fragrance itself will be revealed soon but in the meantime we can enjoy this stunning Mario Testino picture and the 5-second video part of the multimedia campaign.

British Vogue’s best cover of 2011
VogueUKaug11
TFS
Firstly, I'd like to say I love the perfect timing of this cover. British Vogue had been missing the point with their covers for more months than I can remember. This feels so fresh and young and exactly along the line that Vogue should be following!
I was surprised to see this because I had heard so much about how Kate Moss had given the exclusive of her wedding to American Vogue that this is the last I expected! I suppose they have got the cover and editorial but the wedding story will only appear in Anna's bible.
I also love the fact that Kate looks really glamed-up and not in some decadent Balmain-esque rock'n'roll styling. Nothing less, of course, could be expected from Mario Testino. A preview of the shoot inside has also been published and even I must admit that the story is spotless. Not very avant-garde or innovative but a great fit for British Vogue.
I posted about how much I loved Miu Miu on Japanese Vogue a few days go and Kate Moss is wearing another of their f/w11 dresses. It seems like the brand is going to take over covers once again.
For the first time since my subscription started I am genuinely excited about getting home and having it in my hands!

Emma Watson & American Vogue’s best cover in months
EmmaWatsonVogueUSJul11
[Vogue.com]
If you read Know Wear often you'll be really aware of how I haven't been too happy with the last few American Vogue covers in terms of photography, crops, styling, layout... Well, I can finally say that I love this one!
Emma Watson covers the July issue shot by Mario Testino and styled by Camilla Nickerson. Everything about the cover and the story inside is absolutely spot-on. The burgundy and orange work brilliantly together and feel both summery and sophisticated. The headlines, while still overpowering, have been reduced in number and increased in size, which somehow works quite well. The hair and makeup are stunning and slick. I particularly like the intensity of the lips, which are the centre of attention in the picture, and the very subtle eye shadow.
The editorial inside follows the same line. Very intense colours and quite a lot of metallics. I am in love with the Tom Ford chain-mail top and the brass feather skirt just as much as with the Prada paillette dress. These choices seem quite edgy for the American bible, something that makes me very happy and gives me hope for future issues.
Check out the whole shoot here.

TITLEaprilshowers
burberry ss11 april showers campaign
It was such acoincidence that I should get an email from Burberry about their 'April showers' collection yesterday, when the sky in London turned grey for a few hours and the rain poured only to let the sun come out again in the early evening.
I'm posting about the capsule collection not only because I thought that the timing of it was brilliant but because I really liked the new campaign shot by Mario Testino. There is something slightly ironic about the way the setting is almost apocalyptic and the models look so perfect in bright colour. And the same goes to some of the really cool plastic pieces (see my favourites below) that include the red trench above, which is simply genius and quite useful if you think about it, as well as bags and flats that seem perfect not only for April showers but for an upgraded "Festival look".

TITLEFrejaBVuk
VogueUKcoverMAY2011I haven't really liked a British Vogue cover for months now. And this really annoys me because the magazine inside has been getting so much better since just before the new year. I felt a little unsure about Kate Winslet on April's cover (too out of control retouching) and I will forever defend that less is definitely more when it comes to writing on the cover. For the May issue, which I received at home today, there's three choices of cover. I was happy to find that Freja was in my mailbox because Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova (all shot by Mario Testino) look almost ugly. All three covers are pretty bland but at least Freja still looks pretty on hers. I do like the fact that the model's name is written on the cover because it elevates their status. After all, they look better on  magazines than celebrities but they're often ignored or not mentioned by name.
The wedding stories inside, entirely shot by Mario too, are as boring and uninspired as they are clichéd and expectable. I understand that a royal wedding is a national event but the country's fashion magazine should be able to do better despite it's roller-coasting conservatism. To compensate Agyness Deyn, styled by Kate Phelan and shot by Tim Walker, looks extraordinary in an abandoned location in the Namibian desert. A place I had spotted on "Wonders of the Universe" on TV a few weeks back and thought would be excellent for a fashion story. I deserve some credit for that, no? What do you think of the covers?

TEMPLATE6
WintourWSJmagcoverI remember when I saw the first cover of Industrie magazine I thought that would be the closest thing we'd ever get to actually having Anna Wintour on the cover of a magazine. I didn't think Anna would ever agree with being shot and plastered across the front of a glossy magazine. But the Wall Street Journal magazine has proved me wrong. For their latest issue they have Anna's bust proudly profiled on their cover, which was shot by Mario Testino. I love the fact that the picture is simple but the fact that it's her profile makes it look different and, I don't know if intentionally, like the Queen on our sterling pound coins, which is simply genius. She is heavily retouched, though, which disappoints me a little but I guess is predictable coming from someone's whose business is to sell youth and glamour. This was a terrific call on the WSJ's side and even though I a die hard Anna fan it's probably best if she doesn't do this anymore. After all, we only need one super exposed Anna and dello Russo is the best at that.

I'm off.
